@feathers632 prepare to die is the pc version and its lock at 720 rendering unless you download the fixes once that's done tho it looks insanely amazing!!!!
2 Like I'm about 30 hours into my first play through (pyromancer/dex build). GET THIS GAME. I bought this game when it first came out on PS3, tried it, and quickly gave up basically because the game is hard as all hell, and it does little to hint at it's unmitigated scale and adventure early on, and made me feel like it wasn't worth it to stick with it.Well, I found this version with added content on Steam for a mere 25 dollars, and I've heard so many great things about it, I went with my gut and bought it. Even though there are a couple headaches you have to get around (it REQUIRES a controller to be playable, and there are a few graphics mods that are almost required as well) this game delivers. I stuck with it and got past the wall that I ran into on the PS3 version and this game is absolutely amazing. I found myself just stopping in the midst of the adventuring and just ogling over the scenery. GET THIS GAME! You will love it!
1 Like Tomohiro Shibuya. please fire this guy. Not only does he make inconsiderate stupid remarks about our beloved game, his only experience is Resident Evil Outbreak. That's bad!! Lets get a petition going. We can't let a guy with no credibility handle dark souls 2. Why is Hidetaka Miyazaki stepping down? We need to find someone who's designed some really good games. or make him feel the pressure of how good and great this game is and how many people will be cranky if he screws this up...he seems so clueless about RPG and fantasy lore in his interview. Why is he "learning" everything from Miyazaki? this game needs like the top experienced designers who know a lot about this stuff. Please come back and be the director Hidetaka Miyazaki!!
1 Like @SevenStyx I've already accepted that Dark Souls 2 is going to at best be slightly worse than the DS 1. Rarely ever does a 'design swap' mid series work out, on top of the fact that Dark Souls 1 was such an outstanding game near impossible to top. I'm honestly expecting it to suck testicles, because it most likely will.

We can?t can?t just accept that. Even if it may be true. Demon?s Souls and Dark Souls are the best game in the last 7 or 8 years. I had so much fun playing this I don?t want to let this series go to the crapper. Write to FromSoftware and tell them remove Shibuya as director. He seems to not give a shit about the core audience who loves Dark Souls and Demon?s Souls and is trying to attract a bunch of casual gamers who need a detailed walkthrough with easy levels? The game is easy enough. I don?t get why people keep saying its so hard, unless your on the umpteenth playthrough. This is how you contact FromSoftware http://www.fromsoftware.jp/en/inquiry/. Let them know how you feel. If enough people care it?ll change things. Tell them to Bring back the original director who direct Demon's Souls and Dark Souls Hidetaka Miyazaki who got taken off the Dark Souls 2 project against his will and to his disappointment. He said he had a lot of ideas for Dark Souls 2 but I doubt he'll want to tell the new director that if its not his project. The new director is a moron and doesn't know anything about fantasy lore. He's only done are for Resident Evil which was an awful game imo.

Yes, they could have worked more on the porting, because the game is really good. I'm playing it on the xbox and I like it a lot. It has a great world that you can explore. A lot better than most of the other games. It is hard, but because of this the joy is greater when you kill a boss
4 Like As much as I enjoyed Dark Souls on consoles and as much as I think the game, as a whole, is fantastic, the PC version shouldn't have gotten ANYWHERE NEAR 9.5. It's a buggy mess with poor controls, and they couldn't even sort out the frame rate issues on the consoles.
They have released the game without any proper improvement in graphics quality in PC version.
So, leaving the rating aside, which from what I understood is highly subjective, is that game worth trying or not?
2 Like @twinkle1452 of course it's worth trying. this game feels different from other games... (it's really is rewarding and have some unique online features). but it definetly not for everyone, Dark Souls is love or hate kind of game. Buy it and see for yourself where you at.
Just 3 words: WORST PORTING EVER.The game can be great with its atmosphere or gameplay or exploring or whatsoever but with a porting like that it can be rated 6,5 at best. Play it on some console or spare those 50 bucks

what a difference.. 9.5 to 7.1. i know nothing of this game nor have i tried it... but this rating seems to show this game is a hit or complete miss.
2 Like @Lace3 In my honeset opinion, the game's 9.5 rating is more in favor than 7.1. The game is in fact, pretty difficult, however once you figure out all the little gimmicks, it isnt that hard. Dark souls is a game of skill and one little mistake will screw you over. 9.5 GREATLY describes the awesome environment this game has. Music, boss battles, are all epic and beautiful. Story is very vague, but lore from items lets you go really deep and form a story on your own, and is all very interesting. Lookup Epicnamebro on yt if you pick this up. 7.1 is only given by butthurt users who treat this like a hack and slash game. Hope this helped (: liking the game is personal interest. I personally like gaming for experience, cuz hack and slashes get boring from button mashing
This game is amazing,an epic journey fighting enemies,exploring and fear surrounds you in every step.This might be for hardcore players,or for those that want to spend lots of hours trying to reach the end,but they enjoy the journey until the end,players that want to feel the thrill of battle,the thrill of losing even from the weakest enemies,this is a nouvell compared to other games these days.This is a good sign that gaming industry can be fun and emotional rewarding.One thing though the graphics look a bit old and not so good,i was expeting better graphics but if the fans graphic mode makes it better then there is nothing that stops you from playing it.
3 Like The thing about very challenging games like Dark Souls is that they don't just require a lot of patience and skill, they are VERY time consuming. Hard games, are LONG. and the fact they the average gamer is 30 years old it's quite possible many gamers just don't have the time and patience for a game like this. A 25-30 year old gamer is likely to have a job, wife kids, school, and other adult responsibilites. in previous console generations people were much more accustomed to hard games probably becasue gamers were younger and had much more time to get into them and master them due to a lack of adult responsibilites. Times are different, Video games aren't just for kids anymore just as many adults play them and they play them to escape stressful days at work at school, and just the stress of everyday life . So they want to be entertained and have fun not be frustrated and pissed off. That's why games have gotton easier lately and why a game like Dark Souls gets a lot of flack.

To all people who think this game is severely overrated, two things. One, they're rating this for people who have the skill to deal with the game. If you are a bad gamer, this will require a lot of patience. Second, they're rating it on the scale of only costing $30. This game is absolutely terrific for such a low price. It makes me want to tear my eyes out with a melon baller because my computer sucks and can't run it. xD
7 Like anyone saying this game does not deserve a 9.5 has either never played this game, or not given this game enough time, or they are simply crap at playing games. this is the best game iv ever played and also one of the most time consuming games iv ever played. Never have I ever been this satisfied with a game until I played Dark Souls, it is the most challenging thrilling and weirdly beautiful games to ever hit console and pc. This game has better combat than wow period.... Fed up of losing souls? O boo hoo, I lost 100 thousand souls against dragonslayer ornstein & smough, and iv completed the game twice and on my third playthrough now lol, still playing :P.
@Aaronp2k i'm on my fifth playthrough at lvl 243, and still enjoy the challenge. (But I guess I should start playing some other games)

I think the game is overrated, 9.5 is too much!
I believe 6 is good for this mediocre game, taking into account: not very good graphics, frustration and cruel awarding logic (one you die, you lose all the souls/artifacts you collected and have one shot to get back to the exact place where you were killed and get them back, oh and every creature you killed along the way is alive again, so it will be extra boring if repeated multiple times). Monster are extremely powerful while player movement is a little jerky (bad aiming, no pause while changing weapons or choosing a spell to cast or something) ...
This game is bad on so many levels, I just wasted 50? :(
