Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition User Review
- Difficulty:
- Very Hard
- Time Spent:
- 40 to 100 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Grows on you"
Ok, what to say about Dark Souls? so much to say yet so little space to write it all down.
Oh well.. lets say this is one of the most epic adventures i have ever experienced in video games.
This is almost an offline single player game (with some interesting online features) but they are almost near to "none", and... if you compare any mmorpg, they finish up being short , childish and easy compared to Dark Souls master piece.
And YES, Dark Souls deserves to be written in capital letters. Because is just an awesome game. And summing up all in 2 words: EPIC ADVENTURE.
If you are an average or causal gamer, just get away from D. Souls. This game will make your very soul burn deep till your bones feel a never experienced chill.
The difficulty in this RPG is beyond anyone's imagination. Even the first "warm up" is challenging enough to make you die a couple of painful times.
And you may say to yourself. why such a great score for a game where you die a lot? well, the satisfaction you get after you accomplish something in this game is the most delightful item you could get indeed. Satisfaction of accomplishment is the reward here. And yes, it takes a lot of effort, training , fast reflexes and all, but the final result is heavenly cool.
The world is vast to explore. It may look little at first but soon enough youll find new paths, doors, areas and places to go, and so on, and so on. Items, such as armors, weapons, magic, enchantments, miracles, materials, etc. are countless. Its very hard to collect 100% of them but thats what is all about. Being able to beat the game YOUR way.
Enemies are challenging metal to the pedal. Boss fights are EPIC, beautiful and hell they are difficult !. some harder than others.
The DLC or the extra content from the PREPARE TO DIE EDITION is also remarkable. You get to know the story of the legendary Artorias knight of the greatswords and dragonslayer.
Nothing is easy in this game. Even unlocking extra content such as the Painting castle or Artorias is complex. But if you are looking for the best gaming challenge in your life , then give dark souls a shot. A lot of people have tried it, but few have been able to beat the game. You can write history yourself simply by completing the game. Man, this game is so difficult, that anyone who beat it should carry it on their curriculum vitae. no kiddin' !!
So, thats what my main message is all about this game. The rest is up to you to find out. Choose your path ! magician, warrior, knight , you name it ! The only thing youll need to play this game is:
* BALLS OF STEEL
* LOTS OF PATIENCE
* LOTS OF GAMER SKILLS
In that order. play the game, enjoy. and if you happen to be victorious, after you beat the game you can start a new game which is 2 times more difficult than before. how about that? INSANE !
Oh, and one more thing pal, if you happen to meet Solaire of Astora along your way, make sure to send him my salutes, he was of great help during the boss battles !
PRAISE THE SUN !!

This is the absolute worst excuse for a console port to pc I have seen in the history of PC gaming.

Do not trust the user average, this game is a 9.5 at the very least. Best game in around 10 years, a unique experience.
