What's the point of this thread? How many people do you think will agree with you on here?
I don't understand how you could think that people would be interested in hearing your opinion on this. What's it got to do with us?
Don't like it? Well whoop di doo. Just don't play it then.
Well maybe it isn't for you then. I on the other hand played the kitten out of this game. Beat new game+7 (the hardest the game gets), did a speed run in 57 minutes, beat the game on a level one, beat the game without a shield, oh and in regards to you thinking its impossible to play through with only a few lives.. I also beat the game with only dying once to the mandatory death to Seathe (people have actually done entire runs without a death by skipping the first encounter with Seathe). This game has an incredibly deep story if you give it a chance.. for example: saving Siff from the abyss before encountering him in the woods gives a new and rather touching alternate cut scene when you fight him. And another one I liked is depending on how you interpret the hints of the story and seeing that the primordial serpents are on the side of the gods.. you are actually doing the "good" ending by not linking the fire and preserving the world for humanity where as linking the fire like you were told to ends humanity.
I played all the way through the first one, and no way in hell will I play all the way through the second. My friend pirated it so I got it for free, and I still won't play it much. This game is nothing but frustration. Trail and error. I hate games where you never really get strong or powerful. Especially RPGs. If I'm not progressing as a 'hero', then whats the point? If everything can just kill me in one hit through the entire game, then don't bother making it an RPG. Just make it a crappy 8 bit game with 3 lives. That is the difficulty all you fanboys are looking for. It reminds me of NES games back in the 80's except with those you could actually find out how to beat a boss the first time you see him. Usually they had a red or white weak spot and they would flash red if you hit it right. This game is IMPOSSIBLE to get through on a couple lives. You literally have to memorize every enemy, monster, unit, and boss in the game. It is all old school trial and error and it is so boring it makes me want to kill babys. I don't want to play level 1 for 4 ****ing hours. It is similar to the secret level on goldeneye for the n64 where every other tile is death and you just have to guess and die over and over and over until you find the right tiles. A really boring idea. I love when a shooting game forgets to let me shoot, almost as much as I love an RPG that never let's you get strong or powerful. LAME. This trial and error concept makes gaming really boring for me. It turns the units and monsters into nothing but background. I just stumble around from place to place doing the same trial and error bull crap over and over and over. This game is not only zero fun, it is zero fun to play, see, or watch. Maybe if it was purely based in PvP, it could be justified, but it isn't and pvp is usually very one sided in this game. (Someone invades you, they are way stronger than you and know the map, you die... get used to that pattern) If you want a game that is truly challenging and not just some simple memorization over and over until you want to put a shotgun to your mouth, play some Starcraft 2. It is way more challenging and the pvp (sc2 only has pvp) is significantly improved. Honestly, I can name several online PC games that are way more challenging, competitive and less simplistic than this garbage. This is not good game design. I love hard, challenging, and rewarding games. This game is definitely hard and sometimes rewarding, but I get burnt out very easy by doing the same crap over and over. There is not true reward for doing well. Your character will never be strong, and he will always die easy. *Block* *Dodge* *Stab* *Die*... Should have blocked again, time to restart the level with nothing.hansome21

Dying is the path to the dark souls. Dying leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to rage. Rage leads to adaptation. Adaptation leads to victory. Victory leads to happiness.

Some of you apologists who responded to the opening post should acknowledge that there will always be dissenting opinions on games, including games that you like.

F*** you, hansome21, for your shameless plug for a completely different game.
