Do the notched whip actually inflict bleeding?

As the topic says
i just came back from a long fight against an invader who kept healing with humanity >_>(and i won ~_~) but i don't recall ever inflicting bleeding with my notched whip
Since it was a long fight i hit him a lot with it, that's for sure..does anyone have an explanation? it's just bugged?

You misunderstood my question. I know that inflicts bleeding as it's stated by its description, I was concerned about its effectiveness because i never inflicted bleeding to anyone even after a lot of hits.
I was wondering if it's bugged, if anyone tested it further than i did
