I still have faith they will do a good job.
I think we can all correctly predict whether or not the game will be catered more towards casuals based on when they release the game.

We all worry about the game since we all love it so much and just want it to be the best it can be. I also have faith in FROM and I eagerly await further news, and will be keeping my eyes on this board.

That's the spirit. Communities get too up in arms about sequels, especially for niche games. I still imagine this board will miles of butthurt when more people show up, but it's always nice to see people not jumping to conclusions.

Well if preferring that the game keeps the same qualities and challenges makes you an elitist...than consider me an elitist, even though the term in my opinion is rather dumb.
Can't we prefer the game doesn't dumb down and just be considered DkS players whom enjoy the game for the game? Does really wanting the game to still feel like dark souls make someone a vague name as elitist?
I prefer the term quality gamer

I am confident that From Software will do a good job as well.
I don't think it will be 100% exactly like Dark Souls was, but I think the slight changes that will be made will be made for the better.
I actually think that the game will have better boss fights, because the new Director worked on the Monster Hunter series.
That doesn't mean that DS 2 will automatically become Monster Hunter either, because the original Director is still going to be over-seeing the project, just as more of a super-visor....meaning that his input will be the final one, and if it doesn't meet his approval then it will be changed until it does.
So I suspect that the game will be an improvement.
Some people need to just chill out and wait for some actual game-play footage before they start any crap.

Ah dont worry guys the elitist thing was a sting at the people who call us elitist... the original fans "US" are what made the game great, not these hipster casuals

I've bought too many games riding the coattails of their predecessors........
.....and been burned in the process.
I can't recall "reaching out to a wider audience" ever, not once, leading to a deeper, more engrossing game.
Hopefully Dark Souls "2" breaks the trend, but I just can't be optimistic about it. Especially not when they opt to remove the man who masterminded the previous installments.
If the game can't deliver a quality akin to or superior to Dark Souls/Demon's Souls I will not support it with a purchase. If they abandon what makes their series unique, fun, and *ahem* soulful in the interest of dollar signs they can get them elsewhere.

Bottom line is it wasn't just that Dark Souls was difficult. I was, above all else, a unique experience.
There are a lot if things they can build upon from DS while simplifying others. The multiplayer components are genre breaking and I have to believe that From and Namco can see that.
As long as when the game is released, it is still in a category of its own...I won't be too let down.
