A raw gem...

Dark Planet is one of those games that vanish in the shadow of bad-marketing and we never even hear of. Believe it or not, it was only two years ago I learned this game existed. And I was plesantly surprised!!!

Of course its not the new Command and Conquer or Starcraft or Dawn of War but is surely a highly enjoyable futuristic RTS. I dont know why but I personally found in Dark Planet an early version of Dawn of War...

Pros

1) Considering that the game was released in 2002, it has an amazing 3D engine with insanely detailed models and visual effects. Visually, the game is a pleasure.

2) A lot of units & structures.

3) Probably the most unit upgrades and technology researches I have ever seen in a fast paced RTS.

4) Strategic commands such as squad formation and different battle stances.

5) Nice, old-school cinematics.

Cons

1) Voice acting does not exist, so does the soundtrack. Only a nice menu theme.

2) Game needed more polishing. Some unit portraits and other fancy stuff such as a better designed control panel that made games like Starcraft, Total Annihilation and Dawn of War differ from the mass, are not present.

3) Story is not immersive. Campaign looks just like a series of different skirmish maps.
