Dark Age of Camelot (DAOC), is one of those games that changed PvP games forever, every time you talk of PvP in a MMO someone will mention RvR and how great it was to fight a three sided war. Not only having to face the enemy in front of you but an entirely different enemy with different abilities from your own and your other enemies. The fact that the three realms were based completely on lore from the world is simply amazing. The details, the creatures, the massive landscapes all unique, all amazing. The developers hit the mark on the fantasy level, of slaying dragons, fighting for kings, defending your homelands, and simply a game that would develop a community that there has been no equal too.
Yes, DAOC is one of those games that gave birth to a community of gamers, that would flock together for a goal, who would work together, were willing to help the new player and in general were a happy group. There were no set raids, no raid lockouts, no requirements to kill the same thing over and over to progress, everyone could trade anything to their friends and help them along. Guilds were built and alliances were formed with people who could talk about anything and everything. The game its self was amazing and I could not ask for more from it, but the community it fostered is what made this game one of the best MMO's in my mind ever.
