There really is no need to get this mix; unless you want to play the only game with 6 panel mode available.

User Rating: 6.5 | Dance Dance Revolution Konamix PS
DDR Konamix is the third DDR game released for the PlayStation in the US. Released as the last DDR game for the PlayStation, Konamix was just an appetizer for the main dish DDRMAX which was released in the Fall of 2002.

Konami didn't even bother to put much effort in this release; they just simply compiled 52 songs together, use the 4th Mix engine, and release it at a meager $29.99 to make a quick profit. Also, the game was only sold as-is with no dance pad bundle. Much of how cheaply made this game is stems from the fact that there are ZERO licensed songs here (thus the name Konamix). Konami just compiled a bunch of Konami Original songs from the first Japanese mix all the way to 5th Mix. None of the catchy DanceMania licenses are in the game; which what gave the series so much fun in its music library. 32 songs are available from the beginning while 20 extra songs can be unlocked by simply playing many many songs. What you have left here are songs that range from good to downright awful. Konamix has plenty of fan favorite Konami Originals though that range from "PARANOiA" and it's "Rebirth" remix, "DYNAMITE RAVE", "B4U", "Brilliant 2U", "END OF THE CENTURY", "ABSOLUTE", "CAN'T STOP FALLIN' IN LOVE", "Healing Vision", "Look To The Sky", "'era (nostal mix)", "MATSURI JAPAN", and "DROP THE BOMB." You also have some real obscure to borderline awful songs here such as "diving money", "perfect free", and "ORION.78 (AMeuro-MIX)." The game's sole brand new material is "AM-3P (303 Bass mix)."

Konamix also uses the 4th Mix system. It has the though grading scale, genre music selection (though ALL MUSIC is available), the slanted banner song selection screen, and Solo Mode available for play. Solo Mode of course is the 6 panel one player game where a 2 diagonal arrows are added to the gameplay. Going back to Konami being lazy, you have to edit your own steps if you want to play a 6 panel game for songs that came from the Club Version DDR or 5th Mix. Konamix is a game from a long gone time when DDR was still rather new to the US. The series ever since has evolved to a point where some of the US versions are better than the Japanese mixes as of late. Much of the music in this game has been revived on either a PS2 or Xbox mix so there isn't really much incentive to look for this game. Well, unless you want to play Solo Mode, there really is no reason to procure this game if you have the much superior mixes of today.
