Its not fast and its very frustrating, but perfect you drift in this game and all others will be easy.

User Rating: 7 | D1 Professional Drift Grand Prix Series PS2
Gameplay: 6/10 In all, D1 PDGPS isn't that impressive. The controls make it to difficult to enjoy.

Controls: 7/10 Although its difficult, the controls are set up nicely. All the buttons are in the right place. Using X for gas can be a problem, though, as you might have to really mash down the button to accelerate fast enough.

Story: 1/10 There really isn't a story...

Graphics: 8/10 The game is nice when it comes to graphics, but just because it looks nice doesn't mean its a good game.

Overall: 7/10 It starts to become fun when you realize that you have to slow down A LOT at corners and you start scoring in positive points. If you want to learn to drift in a game, though, this is a great way to learn. If you just want a good racing game with drifting in it, I'd check out Need For Speed Pro Street as its drifting is much easier, but still fun, and has many other types of driving and tracks to chose from. Pro Street will also be easier to find, and if you have a PS3, you can find it in that format.
