This Game is Simply Weird!

User Rating: 6.3 | Doubutsu Banchou GC
The Good – You get to Mate, Feed & Kill over & over. Nothing quite more satisfying then ripping other square animals limbs off. Overall just a strange experience all around.

The Bad – These Bad N64 Graphics are bad on the eyes. The game is very basic rinse and repeat gameplay. Bad Camera Angles & the game is quite short around 6 hours to complete. No extras!

Gameplay/Story

Cubivore is all about Kill or be Killed, Survial of the Fitest. You play a cube like creature on the verge of evolution. You start as a child you will be eating small plants eventually you will go up and work your way up the food chain. The game incorporates RPG elements too. You can go teeth to help you tear meat & limbs off the other creatures body. You can also Get other upgrades to your body that will aid you threw your adventure. As you Eat you way up the food chain you grow more limbs and get bigger and take on different roles in the game. You can also “poop” when you eat so you can make room for other meat & to flush out a certain color of meat out. The Ultimate Goal is to Reach 100 Multations so you will be “King of the Cubivores”. The Story to this title is which has you returning color to the devastated and pale world around you. The Gameworld is very simple & quite ugly some areas are blacked out you must defeat certain enemies to unlock that area.

Graphics/Sound

This is a N64 Port the game runs in Letterbox and you if you tried hard enough you could probably count all the polygons used for this game. The game does run 60 Frames per Second Oddly Enough. Probably one of the Worst Games I Seen in a Very Long Time. Definite the worst looking on Gamecube. Animals Bleed purple Rectangles & the game does run in progressive scan.

On the other Hand sound department is disappointing. Most of the Samples used for the game tend to repeat over and over. Creature sounds are also pretty straightforward, ranging from shrills to howls. It’s even in surround sound too.

Closing Comments

Cubivore is Definite a weird game if only it had graphics of today games. This game would be truly freighting. A good concept but too bad there’s not enough game variety to this weird game. If you are looking for a truly weird game this game is for you.
