Forensic Tools required? Not according to Legacy.

User Rating: 3.5 | CSI: NY PC
Ok firstly I will get this out the way, once apon a time I liked Legacy for the older Law and Order titles until their latest botch attempt at 3d Meshes, but now the last year I detest the company. That being said I was willing to give this a go, had it imported no less.

Ok possitives, hmmmm lets see, its CSI:NY never done before on any format, and the characters' speech is of the actors in the TV show. And well that is pretty much it.

What you get for paying full price may I add, is a casual game, now casual games is what you would call those nice games where you have to find items to progress, like as on person said on Legacy's forum a "Where's Wally" game.

So you start with your first case and you sit through the horrible animated 2D characters and backgrounds, yes they are drawn well but 2D is not that great, especially when animations look like they are stuck in a loop.

Ahh a crime scene we have before us, lets check the body ok good so far, take pictures ok thats good. But collecting blood by drawing a swab around it??? Errr what?

And then collecting items that have no relevence what so ever to the current case is an extremely non-logical brain waster, not because its difficult which it is not, but its numb boggling easy.

Ok collected all the evidence and now to the lab, ok get to check for things shall we, errr what is this now! Its only mini-games to find said evidence which is absolutely horrible I may add. Infact everything is horrible!

This is definetly a very poor game, I need not go on with the review, just to say these few points.

1. The game is full priced when it should not be, and wrongly advertised as an adventure game, now Ubisoft must have knew what they were buying from the developers to know this is NOT an adventure game, and the developers (who are in my opinion the Apocalypse to Game Titles - once they do it they never surface again) should have known what people wanted in terms of gameplay due to the previous titles, Tell Tale Games (who should have been given permission to do this game) was 2nd to do CSI games and did a great job at it.

2. Its not a full game, whats this you hear me say? Well there is supposed to be 5 cases but yet only 4 available, because 1 case will be available in January. Thats right you paid full price for a poorly developed game only to not get the full game at all.

3. Again I point out this is a Casual game and not an adventure game, you wont have the choice to pick what location or suspects to question or the chance to use forensic tools (Which is the core of CSI)

4. Do NOT waste your money here, buy something else, GTA IV should be around soon buy that instead for the same money and while your at it, send Ubisoft an email with laughter pointing to them, or include a Nelson Muntz pic pointing at CSI:NY screenshot. I am sure they will get the picture.

NB.

Why did Ubisoft allow this trash to go out? Something is not right here.

What I suspect is Legacy offered a lower cost and lesser royalty percentage, and never gave Ubisoft a beta or near gold release of the game. And no demo yet on the site either as im sure now they know its a pile of trash.

So I gave this title 3.5/10 only for the fact its the real actor's voices used and its CSI:NY.
