Crystalis is one of the most underrated NES games. Competing with the likes of Zelda and Star Tropics, this game got little attention. However, it is a better game than any of those others on NES, in my opinion. I have played through it countless times, and it is just as good as I remembered it. The weapons have much greater depth, but less variety. There are four swords, each with three levels, but no boomerang or bombs. The maps are large. The puzzles are the right balance of sense and difficulty. The control is smooth. The graphics are better than the first Zelda and on par with both Star Tropics games. The sound is mediocre but not too bad that it becomes annoying. This has to be among my best gaming memories.
