Beauty, freedom, and unique. Crysis is the best FPS ever made. Believe the hype!

Ahh Crysis. Where to start?....the graphics perhaps.

Crysis was released 4 years ago and it's still the best looking PC game to date, 4 YEARS!
Everything from the reflection of the water to the light bouncing from each leaf and branch from a tree. This game has outstanding graphics, Crytek should be proud. The fact that the levels are huge and encourage exploration and to not follow the path is great. People often compare this game to CoD: MW is just stupid to say the least. CoD is a really well graphiced game but even this game that was released 4 years ago still tops anything CoD or anyone else has produced by a long shot.

Gameplay:

Here comes another CoD comparison. Alot of people (CoD fanboys) say that CoD dominates the FPS world in terms of gameplay. While I enjoy CoD (Modern Warfare 1, Black Ops is just crap), the linear, heavily restrictive, and scripted gameplay can get very tedious. Crysis has virtually none of that, the game wants/makes you think outside of the box (especially on Hard and Delta difficuly). The Nanosuit is just plain genius and fun to say the least. Camouflage, speed run upto a guard then switch to maximum strength and throw him into another guard, or throw a gas tank at an enemy then quickly shoot it and watch the fun...simply intoxicating. You can run head first into a firefight or you can stealth and find unlimited ways in order to do everything and anything. The fact that you can steal/enter any land vehicle you find gives the game a very Battlefield feel. The maps are huge and are literally giant playgrounds for you and your Nanosuit.

Story:
(Spoiler Alert)
You play as Nomad, an American Special Forces Lieutenant with a Nanosuit. your job is to investigate a strange crash on an island near Korea. As the story progresses you go from fighting enemy soldiers to fighting off Aliens, some of them are pretty monstrous in size too. You also move away from the jungle and end up in the Alien mothership which is a wacky, zero gravity, futuristic environment. Then once you emerge from the ship you end up back in the jungle but it's all frozen over with ice and snow. It's a fairly basic story with fairly predictable twists and plot lines, but suiting nonetheless. It's also a nice touch that the environments get switched around.

Sound:

The sound is excellent. The guns, explosions, vehicles all sound the way they should and suit the Crysis theme very well. The music is very suiting as well, the composers of these massive sounding numbers did a great job capturing the feel of the environment and fights.

I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys FPS games. I'll probably get amused by CoD fanboys who do nothing but sit on that game, oh well most of them are 15 year kids anyway. Hope you enjoyed my review of this great game.
