Crysis Warhead User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Immersive"
When Crysis itself came out there was a lot of criticism about the configuration of the PC's on which it could be enjoyed .But the makers Crytek have done a very good job in bringing the system requirements down and still not losing the feel of the game.
Crysis warhead runs parallel to the story of Crysis and begins just after the blowing up of the Korean cargo. In the original game we play as Nomad whereas in warhead we play as the character –Psycho Sykes who was introduced in the original. The detail in the game is higher than the original and the game is equally more intense and open. Like in the original the nanosuit takes all the show. Psycho being a veteran uses the nanosuit to its limit.
The Gameplay also contains a few tapes recorded from four years earlier about a code blue situation created by a mishap and the ineffectiveness of O'Neill the pilot who helps us in the game at times. The controls of the game are the same as original but there is no VTOL to fly but more of heavy artillery vehicles. Psycho is a new and very interesting change to the character of Nomad, who was a rather a follower of orders, whereas Psycho is more of a hard skin vet who can take on an entire KPA on his own. Both Psycho and Nomad represent the Raptor Team whose leader –Prophet is MIA and two other members KIA. The information when Nomad (in the original game) saved prophet is given to Psycho by Emerson.
The AI is normally difficult as the aliens nullify the easy kills inflicted on the Koreans who one fights in most of the game but the final battle is against the Aliens. The main objective of the games is to capture and protect the Nuclear Warhead being transported by the Koreans and in pursuit by the aliens.
The Gameplay is 5-7 hours shorter than the original. It still is a very immersive game. The weapons are the same except for the dual wield pistols and the weapon "gifted" to us by O'Neill near the end. If someone has played crysis and liked he surely would like the little excursion in Psycho's footprints. The game can get really difficult at times and sometimes easy but average difficulty is normal. Also the game takes first person shooting on a new level as the nanosuit takes charge. But the only drawbacks are the short Gameplay time and the visit to the cave of the aliens. But the game keeps up to the expectations.

A great stand alone expansion to a great game.

Although not as groundbreaking in its campaign, Warhead is more direct and faster-paced than Crysis, with few stumbles.

Despite its short length, this stand-alone expansion is even more fun than the original Crysis.
