We talk to Hasit Zala, senior producer on Crysis 2, about the upcoming game.
"Press Y" Pop up could be annoying...but other then that, game looks sharp and I can't wait to hear more!
Just watching that im a little confused, the original which i hold as my favorite game of all time, not just for pretty graphics but for amazing AI and the way you plan your way through any situation. What confuses me is in the video there were no Koreans, i know that they will be included but i don't know whether there will be those situations were i can plan my approach. Also i thought the aliens were the worst part in the original whereas here they seem to be focusing on the aliens. This is another thing which confused me, the amount of people who complained they couldn't play the original as the system requirements were too high. I have a 2.2gz Dual Core, 2gb Ram and 256mb Graphics card XFX 8600gt and i could play the original on very high at 800 x 600 and medium at 1280 x 1024 comfortably and enjoy the game. Though im also worried that the game may be changed to accustom console gamers which makes me feel cheated on by Crytek after loving the original religiously. But the fact that everyone can play is worth more than these small changes. I hope that Crysis 2 will use the same AI, Gameplay and the great Korean encounters that the original had and enhance those with the new graphics and hopefully a better story. If Crytek could do this and release a trailer featuring some stealth game play i will buy the collectors edition, otherwise i may have return to my favorite game and keep telling myself that there was no sequel.
@ Black_Tribi, just like to point out that you talking about crossfire. The 5970 is two 5850s on one board. I've seen better scores for Metro 2033, was that some crazy big resolution?
I have an extreme quad processor - overclocked at 3.6ghz, nvidia gtx470 and 8gb 1066 ram. PC version will rock! I have a Xbox 360 but I only really use it for Guitar Hero with some mates. With PC you have more buttons and a fast/accurate mouse to use and, in my case, killer graphics and framerate. I will enjoy this game!
Sadly, I think we won't have any resonable graphic cards that could run Crysis 2 comfortably on max! Why do I think like that? One answer, Metro 2033 - only one card, the very high end Radeon 5970 (nVidia is slacking recently, I hope they'll pick up) had like 23fps average in all benchmarks (I'm not talking about any sli or crossfire, that naturally scored a little higher). That's poor score, granted at the end of the year we'll have something more powerfull, but dx11 is a very dangerous beast!Add a fact that Crysis is really top end when it comes to graphics ... huh it will be better to play it on consoles. The truth is consoles dragged down their requirments to pcs (as most games are realeased on everything nowdays), a minus of that is we see quite slow development in graphics card department, the plus - we don't need to exchange our graphics card every 6months! Anyway, I would like them to focus more on actual fun, gameplay and content rather than putting all the resources into graphics!
@Whitsel. Assuming KZ2 really did have graphics to match Crysis, it was released 2 years later. Two whole years and it didn't even match it, because, as you said the resolution and textures were not as good. Aslo the depth of field was no where near as accurate. The shaders in KZ2 were nothing to shout about in 2009. As to gameplay, it is purely subjective. Some will prefer Crysis 2 over KZ3 and vice versa, so that is not a real measure to go by.
I have to say Killzone 2 is about as good looking as Crysis(1), minus some textures and resolution. But Crysis 2 uses a new, better engine. K3 is using a rehashed engine... basically that means of course C2 will win for prettiness, but im all about gameplay. Im no fanboy so ill judge which is better after playing them both thoroughly.
Crysis 2 might even perform better on the 360 and PS3 compared to the PC. For 1 (or both) of 2 reasons. 1. The PC version is vastly superior in terms of textures, shaders and post processing used. We'll see, I'm somewhat skeptical as to whether this will be the case. But it is Crytek after all, so heres hoping! 2. The PC version look better because it'll be running in 1080 and up. People that have said the graphics on PC are no better than a console have to keep in mind that a PC's GPU is often drawing over twice as many pixels as the GPUs in the 360 and PS3. (1080 is over 2,000,000 pixles) (720 is over 900,000) That said I really can't fecking wait for Crysis 2. I still play on Crysis, 3 years on and nothing looks as good as it does. Somethings now have come close, but there just not in the same league when you get up close and really look.
Crysis is THE benchmark for all games graphically. Crysis 2 will become the next benchmark...maybe not on the Consoles since you know...they are not up to par with a modern PC however on the PC prepare for some eye candy. My worry is that the only reason we are in a city now rather than a forest like in all other crytek games is because consoles could not handle the strain of rendering all of that beauty in real time. Shame...hopefully the city is a good enough replacement eh?
i just hope they not makign it for 360 and gonna port it to ps3 cuz that equals crappy games for ps3......
@ Yabba1 : I'm not a crysis nut or anything but next to the graphics the AI was actually pretty damn good. The only time it's bad is when you go invisible while you're being pursued and it would be bad AI for any real foe too. I mean how the hell is the enemy supposed to react well to someone that's invisible? Also, a little pro-tip, try sticking it on harder difficulties, you know harder than easiest, and you'll find that the AI gets ramped up.
Crisis 1 had shoddy enemy AI, which really depressed me. I actually stopped playing it for that reason, they were just dumb. Halo 3 baby!!!!
maybe the kid is trying to say that Killzone has better graphics then Crysis on PS3 but Crysis on PC will wipe the floor with any console game
Crysis 2 has been postponed because Killzone 3 this with better graphics, Crytek will try to improve the graphics of Crysis 2, but Killzone 3 will also improve the graphics
This is one of the best FPS ever, and if Crysis 2 manages to be even better that the first one.....damn..... then best FPS ever man
yeah they always ask the same things, I want to know if this will be a benchmarking game in terms of graphics or will it be watered down because of consoles.
Too bad they didn't go into what Cryengine 3 does other than make it possible to run Crysis decently on a console even at lower levels.
that is one nervous guy, you'd think there was a guy pointing a gun at his head off camera. Does anyone know Morse code?! Check his blinks, we might have a situation! ;)
