Crytek's CEO discusses his forthcoming sci-fi shooter, due out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this coming holiday.
wow... why does everything end up to be a blasting fest between X-Box 360, PS3 and PC. So many kids. Anyway, this game looks like a great game. Didn't have the occasion to play the first one.
@stelispav Dude you need to search fact before you talk up like that - consoles in general has nowhere near the graphics that pc is capable of - and how should they, most of them doesnt have room for the technology required to do so... I'll give that the Xbox 360 can run some insane Physics because of the 3 CPU's in it... But still three CPU and a low(er) graphic card stil cant match 1 CPU and SLi or Tri-SLi graphic cards... I think it was PS3 that runs (at most) at a 720p (1280*720) resolution, high end pc's can easily take on 1080p (1920*1080) - unfortunately i cannot pinpoint where i read this otherwise i would send you the link to read for yourself... But no - PC kicks ass on console graphics, at least if youre willing to pay for it (naturally) - but if you have a low(er) budget - consoles are a great alternative, except their games are about 20% more expensive - atleast her in DK... Also do i even need to refer to overclocking!?
PS3 exclusive games have the best graphics and pc will never have those graphics like the exclusive games of PS3....so shshshshshshsh
@KUNG-LO Nah, the editor is way too complicated for a gamepad/controller, you really need a mouse + keyboard. So, no editor on the Xbox and PS3.
ADEPTONE - What are you talking about? Did you even read what I said? I am talking about storyline and IP. Not the technology.
We all know that PC is a lot better than all consoles in graphics but this game is going to resolve the 360 vs ps3 debate for good. Yup, it will!
@everyone saying consoles are rubbish a good pc that has better graphical powers than a ps3 will cost a hell of alot of money.
@ BrandonC300. how can you say the xbox 360 looks like junk. an have fun buyin a new computer to play this game at its peak graphics. im goin to enjoy playin it on my 120 dollar xbox 360 an still have incredible graphics
Crysis 2 proves that neither Xbox 360 or PS3 look good. They both suck in comparison to PC and because Crysis 2 is being brought to consoles, they are now taking a game which was known for it's absolutely phenomenal visuals, and butchering them up for console demand. Yup, there it goes again. Console demand f*cking up the gaming industry.
Does this have a map editor on the console version ? If so than sweet this is going to take up alot of my time sweet !! :)
@ wowalliance: expect to play at medium/high setting for textures and shadows with FSAA off. But make no mistake the advanced lighting and shadermodel of Cryengine 3 will choke your puny 2010 tech card. Knowing Crytek, maxing out this game at 60 frames won't be done anytime soon.
2 things: 1) Uncanny valley, bye bye! 2) He meant this holiday? As in before 2020? As in not in next-next-next-next-gen PCs? HOW?!?
@ dodow1234 can you please explain how the gameplay in Crysis was poor? It was open, you were free to tackle things in different ways. You could play the singleplayer like 5-6 times and it could be different every time. The guns were customizble on the fly, you had armor that could adapt to the situation you were in. Want to get up high and attach a sniper scope to your assault rifle and snipe some targets, easy. Want to run in like a tank with grenade launcers, laser sights and a reflex sight on said assault rifle, again, easy. The were just way more options open to the player than other FPS i've played. I played COD4/6 maybe twice, once on normal and then on veteran, I've played Crysis and Warhead I don't even know how many times. Even the story was at least on par with both MW, which had pretty average stories themsleves.
God, Cevat certainly does looked drained. Hopefully all that energy is going into what will hopefully be the best game of 2010. I know for one thing, I am very much looking forward to this game, more so than any other this year and last.
maaan, the director looks stressed out like crazy, the crytek engine must be consuming his life force .. also, NY the pride of mankind ? WT* XD ?
Btw. it should be pretty obvious that Crysis will not look any better on consoles than other console games. Games like Killzone 2 and Uncharted have already given the best graphical quality in console games, Crysis is not exeption, it just cannot look better and have more stuff rendered because of its name. The only reason it was, and still is graphically the most impressive game, was because it was for PC that could process those graphics, not because of some unbeliveable optimization...
I'm a little disappointed that the first game's storyline isn't going to be finished. There is still a whole island full of the aliens and now nobody is going to know what will happen to that. It's irritating when developers leave a hanging storyline and the next game they create a brand new one. These ppl need to finish stories before they make new ones.
Looks good, looks good.. the console gameplay looked a little sluggish though.. (on a side note) When can we see something Time-Splitters related? :3 I miss that series!
Oh great a 360 vs. PS3 comparison in the video. All the fanboys from both sides will have something to tee-off on now...
Why is everyone saying that these consoles are killing PC gaming? All I see is a developer noticing the amount of $$ to be made by developing it for the huge customer base of both the 360 & PS3. I'm excited for this game to be coming to the PS3/360, since my PC isn't really that great, and I prefer to game on a console. If Crysis 2 gets "dumbed down" too much for some PC users liking, then maybe they should skip on it , or play it on a "dumbed down" console, but please give people a break with this nonsense of how consoles are killing PC gaming!
the story mode might be a huge improvement compared to the first game, although the multiplayer was weak but i'm hoping they'll improve it. Trophies would be cool :D
@Skyblue69 ... Really? I'd have to agree that Crysis looks the best, but it had little lasting appeal. I can speak for many people when I say I've played much more Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 online and have had an experience that far surpassed that of Crysis. Crysis is a fantastic game, though far from "The Best" FPS.
U @ssholes are in for an education, any console gamer in this thread who has an opinion, is in for a surprise. Crytek are by far... BY FAR... THE BEST FPS DEVELOPER in the game atm. the original Crysis was released in 2007, I challenge anyone to find a FPS game with better graphics or gameplay released since then... The story was not as intriguing as the original Far Cry but they produced a product of such quality and lasting appeal that they're even prepared to dumb it down for u thumbwhores !!! Bottom line is, get prepared to experience the best FPS game imaginable on a console. Btw, I play console games too, just not FPS... PC owns
@xboxkane dooood! SLI AND dedicated physx card ftw! (im running a GTX 295 and a 8800GTX - getting fantastic physx results) too bad the api isn't used alot.
bah I don't really expect this game to be great. They always show off great graphics, but the gameplay & story is always poor.
@ Toysoldier34 - I fear I have been misunderstood. I already know the 360 can't handle it. I am talking about the overall game experience and story. Gears of War and Halo are arguably much more developed game worlds.
im serisously worried about this game now. im afraid its gonna turn into a shooter on rails because of the way they have to develop for the consoles as well as the PC. seriously sony and microsoft need to make new consoles NOW tis been 5 years and games are starting to suffer because of them. and for the love of God i hope that the next round of consoles actually have memory on them so that i dont have to look at low res textures anymore.
@Psy_m_on .. I can plug in a PS3 or 360 controller into my PC and voila, I now have a super modded PS3 or Xbox that can run that everything else but much better. Consoles really only excel in their exclusives, other than that the PC has it beat and you can't really argue that other than the exclusive things like the PSN or Live... wait no the PC has Live also never mind.
@DiscGuru101 You should say it the other way around, The 360 is not ready for Crysis. In the video they even say that they are sorry but the 360 version won't look or perform near as good as on the PS3 as you can see. While neither will even come close to the power of a good PC.
