No crysis from crytek, but then did you expect one, nooooo!!
Since then Crytek have been working on a secondary title innotively named crysis 2, but this time for all plaforms.
Having the ps3 version unfortunately i can only comment on the game for this platform. Presented well and an almost memory of medal of honour, the game starts by throwing you onto escaping a sinking vessel, nice touch!!! The visuals are good and a filmy type opening to the game sets the standard.
Im pleased to say when you enter the game properly (time to shoot people) the visuals are crisp and very reminissant of a pc game in looks. Plenty of good looking scenery with the smoothest frame rate i think ive come accross yet. Its super smooth no glitch's, no pop up, no errors. Its nice to finally see a developer that knows its platform(s) and uses the power of the machine accordingly, im not sure if a new engine was developed for this. It doesnt look quite as good as the 1st pc version but its not far away, not that you ll have time to notice anyway!!!!
Which leads me nicely to the intelligence of the Ai, they go and hide sometimes, they ll flank you quietly in a fight, they ll totally go skitzo at you unleashing hell sometimes. Choppers are called in to aid the struggle. A particular level pits you against choppers specifically making use of the different powers your suit is enabled with. (the lab) and a few men jump through the glass roof too. Again a sense of urgency and realism are felt, and you pretty much really do feel your in a suit all the time,
lifting your visa for tactical options or pre strike move list!!! Many different attributes are at you disposal, invisibilty, max armour (like the thing from fantastic four i imagine) super fast runnin (with the headphones on you can here the bionic legs moving, awesome!!!). These are all needed specifically sometimes but at your discression or as and when you feel fit to use them. However it uses power, while invisible enemies find it difficult to see you, but once yuo start moving it drains energy, firing your weapon in this mode will use all of it (no surprise there!!) but stealth moves are available. The best option of the suit is its upgradable (UNEXPECTED HAHAHA!!), and he picks the options using the fingers of his glove, nice touch.
Levels are well designed and varied from docks to inner city, plenty of carnage going on all around and you feel the city has been overrun and you really are the man that can!! Eenmies really dont like you and vehicles are avaliable to drive (tanks, armoured cars, cars with guns on you get the point.) another nice touch. Plenty of varied weapoons are dropped by enemies and can be found at ammo resupply points too!!
Having not played the first too much i really enjoyed crysis 2, it has a good engine, stunning visuals, intelligent Ai to keep the action quality, super smooth frame rate. The only bug i found was the sniping can get a little glitchy when invisible but hey its for about a second or 2 then it all calms down again.
Worth every penny.
