Maximum Fail ='(

User Rating: 5 | Crysis 2 PC
I loved Crysis and Warhead, I went through both games on my GTX 285 more than a couple times, on the highest possible difficulty. Both games set the bar for software and hardware developers for years to come... And, as it seems, Crysis 2, has failed to live up to that bar.
The graphics are mediocre, at best. Not only are they not better than Crysis (which was released almost FOUR years ago), but they barely make it to the same level. Take a close look at the textures, and you'll notice some of them even look worse than in the original =(
Before the game was launched, we were promised an exclusive version tailored for the PC. But instead we got a game with no DX 11 support (WHAT?!), and graphics that don't match the capabilities of our tailored gaming rigs...
The gameplay is also lacking, the first two hours are nothing but lackluster, compared to Crysis, and most other decent shooters out there. I know the mighty Gamespot says you should stick with it, but I always judge a game by the first two hours.
The controls feel so consolized it's hard to ignore. Even the cursor moves like it's run by a gamepad, not a high precision gaming mouse...
The AI is also mediocre. Put two soldiers from Crysis 2 against one North Korean from Crysis, and the Korean will squash them with ease. And he doesn't even have armour.
To be honest, I could have possibly overlooked all those problems, due to my maximum desire to play the sequel to my favourite game of all time... But what really put me off is the save system... There is NOTHING BUT CHECKPOINT AUTO SAVE. I really can't believe it, but it's true. Wade into an area full of enemies, spend some time plotting your approach, take down nine out of ten foes, get your head blown off by the last one standing... And load the last checkpoint, only to start the sequence all over again...
NO NO NO, this is not what I expected to succeed the masterpieces that Crysis and Warhead were. I could save anywhere, anytime I wanted, because they were truly sandbox shooters, which gave me true options, and true chances to try again if I failed at my choice of approach...
Crysis 2 is NOT a sandbox shooter. It is NOT a new milestone in gaming. It is NOT worth the price. It is NOT worth my time.
It is merely another shooter, a port, an overpriced product which failed to deliver what we, true, PC gamers were promised.
Crysis 2 is MAXIMUM FAIL.
I will be playing Crysis and Warhead all over again just to get over my disappointment over this failure of a game.
Crytek, you've just lost a big fan...
