Has some great parts and a few marginal ones. Different from Crysis 1. Takes a while to .. get.

User Rating: 8.5 | Crysis 2 PC
The good:

Well its not crysis 1. The new suit immediately defaults to strength mode, and in general seems really slow and clumsy to me compared to the old one. The ability to pick up a heavy mg and wade into the fray with it was quite cool and much better done than crysis 1. I'm one of those people with a marginal pc and am totally fine with the graphics, which by just about any standard are great. The sound effects are equally great. And if you can get over the big clumsy suit theme the gameplay is great.

The world is a great mix of the matrix and the terminator with a virus theme thrown in. The music is about perfect with a freaky eerie to hard driving techno vibe. In many cases, with the right cut scenes provides a very high and impressive level of immersion.

I found it quite challenging and have been playing fps's for years. Some of the areas were pretty technical and required several restarts. I never really enjoyed desperately running around wishing I had more ammo hoping the right box would magically appear. On the flipside there are some neat strategies you can employ using your wide variety of weapons and of course the wondersuit.

The bad:

There are a number of really lame map points with super linear fairly hard to figure out choke points. A couple of times I spent quite a bit of time trying to go in a direction the game didn't want me to and you end up in these poorly developed nothing zones. Frankly its even capriciously confusing almost intending for you to waste your time and wonder what foul mischief motivated the programmer.

The suit also has this supremely fast mantle move it can do which totally contrasts to every other relatively slow type of move the suit does. Anyways, I found it inconsistent and annoying.

The maps are often quite linear and ooze fail of duty smallness and narrowness. Where crysis 2 let you wander over huge areas with impunity... not so here. I'd say maps are half the size. Well I guess its not that bad. Far cry this is not.

Multiplayer:

Well I've just started it. Its really alot like call of duty, except it actually runs right on my pc. Its way better than crysis 1 multiplayer. I would expect there to be fairly severe balancing issues, since geared/experienced players are basically mowing down the noobs, even this early. The maps are contextually rich, but not destroyable. Probably the biggest problem is that they are so small its very difficult to snipe. I've seen a few successful ones tho.

But yeah, its a great game with an imagination stretching world.

edit: actually some of the multiplayer maps are pretty large and can be fun when you can get in. the multiplayer browser is a RETARDED DINOSAUR. there is also no vehicle support which is dissappointing. i also noticed pretty early on that it was best to just go around all the time with nanovision on and basically put an end to the stealth game. This has the effect of turning the game into a super grayed out version of combat arms. I guess time will tell if this has lasting value, but i'm doubting it. i'll probably be back into bfbc2 before long.
edit2: with some bugs ironed out and a few patches, and then a REALLY STEEP PAINFUL MP LEARNING CURVE. MP is now really fun. Really brutal on newbs tho. I also went back and replayed the mp on the next difficulty level. Its really a solid game now with the fixes. and hey! they got dx11!
