I was ultimately unimpressed with this third person adventure/RPG Hybrid.

First I would like to state that I'm not the kind of guy who hates a game just because it's more of the same. In fact I really enjoy games that take ideas that work and recycle it in a new setting or implement a new mechanic. This game tries to do just that taking 3rd person controls from games such as Tomb Raider and add a medieval/horror setting from Deathtrap Dungeon and add more RPG elements. Unfortunately the game is simply too mediocre in every aspect.

The graphics are decent and there are quite a few variants in the different scenery and character models yet the action effects are sluggish and bland. This is especially true for most of the magic effects that are quite disappointing. I found that there were quite a few sound glitches when I played it on the Playstaion. For example during cut scenes there would be a few seconds cut off from the dialogue and the effects sounds couldn't be heard until a moment or two after something happened. To the games credit however the voice acting was alright if not stiff at a few key moments and the monster sounds were the highlight of the atmosphere this game has to offer.

As for game play itself. It works like an RPG in the sense that the more frequently you use certain abilities and weapons the faster their rank rises making that ability more powerful. Also killing monsters and gaining experience points makes you gain new power levels raising all your abilities by a slight margin. This allows for the player to play to their preferred fantasy RPG style as a mage, warrior or ranged fighter. An unfortunate aspect of this game is that it lacks a large number of side missions and though there are some of them and a decent amount of powerful weaponry to acquire, the game is far too linear by most fantasy RPG standards.

I should also note that this is a rather short game as well so those of you looking for a deep engrossing fantasy RPG should look elsewhere. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for and older 3D adventure game with some generic role playing elements. I hope that my opinion and this review has helped in your purchasing decisions.
