Very disappointing, boring, dull, and unimaginative

User Rating: 4 | Cross Edge PS3
Cross Edge was a game I was looking forward to playing, it was something I was expecting good things from. I was, unfortunately let down. Now, it isn't the worst experience ever, but it wasn't necessarily good.

To start with the characters are all fairly bland. They don't develop at all and the dialogue is a bunch of anime cliches from start to finish. The writing is so generic and weak that I actually can't stand it. Expanding on that, the voice acting is horrible as well, there is literally no redemption to be found in this flat, bland, horrible script.

The graphic style of the game is nice and easy on the eyes. The character sprites look great and their pictured that appear during talking sequences are very nice. That is, if you like simplicity and anime characters. Since the graphics are so simple there isn't so much to comment on, there is not much to discuss.

The game's battle system, while somewhat new, becomes tiring. The entire game literally becomes a grind. There are no dungeons, nothing to explore, just world maps and battles. While traveling the world map you are expected to "scan" the area to reveal locations and events which sounds like a good idea at first but it only results in the player spending more time scanning the map than moving on with the story.

The game is generic, boring, and unimaginative. I would only recommend this game to die hard fans of NIS, level grinding, and generic anime garbage.
