lovers of the retro Cricket style will be hit for six with this EA title.

User Rating: 7.3 | Cricket '97 PC
Cricket 97, by EA is one of those rare gem games that seem to stick with you forever. From legendary cricket commentator Richie Benaud's facial expression indicating immense pain, to the fact that you just plain suck at the game, Cricket 97 is for everyone who still loves those old retro cricket games, compared to the much more glitchy titles available now.

This game was a highlight for the PC, possibly the greatest cricket game available for the PC, mainly because it was less glitchy, easy to learn and contained adequate multiplayer and networking capabilities. However the game was easy to learn, it was impeccably tough to master and constantly you will be crying as you're hit for six each delivery. But don't let that deter you from purchase of the game, it's still fun to play.

The graphics are very much dated by now, however the game suits that retro style and most gamers will love this. Commentary is optional by the legendary Richie Benaud who seems to be enjoying his cricket very much to be able to repeat the same lines over and over again. The audio is looped constantly but still feels like being there at the real thing.

If the game can be purchased for under $5 or even downloaded for free, then it's value for money. not only will you be able to see cricket games at their prime - sadly to most gamers - but also you will be playing a game that sparked a whole range of cricket game spin offs.
