A fantastic sequal that improves upon the original

User Rating: 9.6 | Creatures 2: Torture Trouble C64
The 'torture' puzzle sequences in the original 'creatures' for the C64 were fantastic and innovative; and Apex Computer Productions made these segments the focus of the sequal. Challenging yet fair, the player has to work out a way for Clyde Radcliffe (the central fuzzy) to prevent a 'fuzzy' from getting killed. These are often humerous upon sucess and failure, and the game was pretty gorey for a cartoon based affair!

The gameplay is split into four segments:

1: Torture Trouble
The player has to rescue an ally 'fuzzie' from the clutches of a number of evil demons

2: Fuzzie Drop Interlude
Imitated by many games, the player must 'bounce' the rescued fuzzies to safety

3: Fuzzie Water Interlude
The player must help the fuzzies from one island to the next via swimming with the fuzzie on the player's back. The weakest gameplay segment due to the repatition of going back and forth for each fuzzie

4: Boss Showdown
The player must defeat three boss demons in sucession in each Boss Showdown by kicking smaller creatures into tubes and hitting the Boss whilst dodging its attacks. Simple but effective and keeps with the game's feel of puzzle solving over button mashing

Graphics and Sound
For a C64 game, the graphics and sound are top notch. The tunes are really catchy and the graphic style is really pleasing to the eye

Gameplay
Aside from the Water Interludes, the game plays at a top notch level. Challenging scenarios that are fun to work out and tight controls make for a gem. I would have liked to have seen the torture sequences from the original included in the game as a bonus feature!

In conclusion, this game is a must play! Also considering it was made my two people (John and Steve Rowlands) the game is a forgotten classic.
