Welcome to the fourth topic in this series, everyone. Despite the topic name being an homage to CTR's main villain, Nitrous Oxide, this is simply the place to post your thoughts or opinions about CTR.

And if you have anything else to say about any other topics, well...feel free to post that as well.

Let's see if we can bring this thing back up to 500 posts again!

I will now have this topic nag at my que for the next 2 - 3 years.

Wow, the forum looks so dead at the moment. We had quite a few topics that got archived a couple of weeks ago, and now the last volume has reached 500. It's sad, in fact. But this is not an end, but a new beginning. A chance to build from the ground up yet another great thread. I am sure this edition will live up to its predecessors, and we are in for another great thread of not talking about CTR in the least.

Not true...you just mentioned CTR in your post. That counts.

And look at this video of the bosses from CTR...this counts!

This forum will not die, despite the other topics having been crusssssshed into brick dusssst.

Damn, you got me there. But heck, it's all good. CTR is a very worthy topic of discussion, so I'm all for it. ^.^

I predict we'll have at least ten topics, and/or posts in this thread regarding whether you can unlock Oxide or Penta without cheats/unintended methods, what their stats are before we cap this thread off.

As long as we're on the topic of CTR related videos...

And since it's bound to happen...

... if I happen to post with this account, this is me. I mean, the person above. But we're both the same. Well, sorta. Aww, you get it.

Haha, that commercial...well to be honest, if I had seen it before buying the game, it might have turned me away from it. That was some serious cheesiness.

I remember the old Penta account. Didn't remember that it was you though, so it's good that you told me. >_> Lol.

    Wow that's a bad ad o.O

Anyhoo, my laptop's on its dying legs, so I bought a new one =D

    Noteworthy details:
    Screen: 17.3" 1920x1080
    Intel i7 Quad (2GHz)
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 Memory
nVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 2GB graphics
    250GB 7200RPM HDD
    card reader
    Wireless + Bluetooth 3.0
    2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0
    No OS / Software
    Ł733 Incl delivery / VAT

I coulda gone for 12GB memory, but the GPU woulda been weaker, and smaller screen, so this'll work better for my renders

I'm not much of a computer techie, so it's hard for me to comment on the specs. Congrats on the purchase though...wish I could get a new laptop for myself, lol. This one can begin overheating because of a simple Youtube video.
  • Aug 22, 2011 11:29 pm GMT
Yeah, it's a terrible commercial, that's why I posted it. I have the wonder how that was even related to kart racing. Well, the Crash Bandicoot series has always had a "unique" advertising campaign, and certainly retains the charm of the series.

From what I can tell not being much of a computer techie either, that sounds like a pretty got system. I'd assume you had that custom built, considering no OS came with it? I've preferred Windows Vista on my old laptop myself.

In the meantime, I've been playing a lot of the Driver: San Francisco online demo, which I just got a blog up about. Dang, am I ever excited for the release of the full version. Also finally found a way to work around the PSN Account Management server being down, and finally downloaded Threads of Fate to my PSP. I'm about five hours in and my guess is halfway through one of the character's storylines (you play as two characters separately to uncover the full story), and so far it has been mediocre at best. The story doesn't interest me, the combat is noting but button mashing, and there nothing really unique about it. Can't make any conclusions about it yet, but so far it has been a disappointment.

    Yup, custom built

I'll be whacking Linux on it, so that's why I usually opt to skip the OS.

    Saves me Ł80....

Just got my pre-order for Batman: Arkham City in at Best Buy a few days ago. Since it's the first time I've ordered from them, and also because I have heard that making pre-orders at Best Buy can be a risky experience, I'm saving the email of my order confirmation and I plan to take it directly to the store with me when I pick up the game. No funny business, no mistakes. And I better darn sure get my Robin DLC pack.

I'm also planning to pre-order Modern Warfare 3 from Gamestop before the month is up, because some employee at one of the stores told me a while back that for every month that goes by while you have a pre-order of MW3 made, you get an extra piece of in-game content, like freeDLC and such. This info isn't anywhere to be found on Gamestop's website last time I checked, so I'm basically taking his word for it, because I was planning to pre-order the game anyway.

It's a higher rating than the new Madden game, so that's something, lol. I have a question about the game though...in multiplayer, are the any "cops vs racers" modes?
  • Aug 30, 2011 11:53 pm GMT
There is "Takedown" mode. By my understanding, there's one driver who can utilize the whole city to escape the cops, but there are either five or seven players who are cops. I know for a fact the racer can't use the shift feature, but I'm not sure if cops can.

In the meantime I'm playing through DRIV3R, and it's absolutely terrible. The game is broken, glitchy, and just not any fun, period. I'll probably blog about it at some point.

I always look forward to the game-bashing blogs, so that'll be nice.

Takedown mode sounds quite interesting. The only thing that was similar in Hot Pursuit was "Most Wanted" mode, which really just didn't do it for me. Interceptor was fun of course, but the fact that it was 1v1 was underwhelming.

    *Bump*

Not much going on with me in the world of gaming. Been occupied with playing Black Ops. Almost every time I get online with it, I can't resist the urge to see if I can get into a Gun Game match against several mic'd up people, so that I can run around knifing them and hearing them rage about it, lol. It does sound a little like I'm being ignorant about it, but honestly I only do it in "Ante Up" lobbies (which have a buy-in fee of 10 CoD Points...and you earn hundreds of those on average in a normal online match).

Some people take it well and actually laugh about my knifing. They say that it makes the game more interesting when one guy goes around and knifes, and whenever I get them, they shrug it off. Other people, eh...not so much. A couple of guys were seriously getting annoyed at me earlier this morning and I really wish I had the equipment to record my matches and post them on Youtube or something, because it was hilarious. They were calling me several different names and also saying how I was probably just some little kid who wasn't even supposed to be playing Black Ops. Some other guy who didn't have a mic also sent me a message simply saying "**** you". In the next few games I decided to actually play legitimately, and I won two in a row. Then those two guys laughed about it, though they still called me names when I shot them, lol.

Moral of the story is to never take games so seriously. I've been annoyed by knifers in that game mode as well, but I never let it make me rage.

Oxide's always been annoying in any game he appeared in. He was annoying in this game, annoying in Crash Nitro Kart, and annoying in Crash Bash.

His voice actor did a wonderful job at making him sound annoying, too.

I found him rather lame in CNK. His best appearance is of course in CTR.
