Crackdown appears to be one of those games that tries to follow the open-sandbox style genre, but it is one of those games that helps push that genre forward. Crackdown is an immersive open game that allows you to go anywhere you want whenever you want to. The gameplay of Crackdown is extremely straight forward, there are three gangs and you must rid Pacific City of them any way you want, while this leads to open freedom exploration and freedom of choice in how you deal with the baddies it does lead to some serious repetition issues. The gun play and powers work smoothly and it is easy to use many in combos and plus once you get them up, you basically become a super human who no one can stop. That of course means that if no one can stop you there isn't really a challenge and that would be correct, about the only way to die in the game is if you kill yourself or a giant explosion happens within 5 feet of you. Even with the repetition issues and easy campaign Crackdown is one of those games you can just sit down and enjoy without worrying about anything. Plus at only about 12-15 bucks, at most, at a used game store it's a great buy. It's a freedom game, plain and simple.
