It's time for the Counter Force review! For the Wii!

Counter Force is a futuristic third person shooter where you take command of one of three giant fighting robots. Each robot has a different primary attribute such as speed, power, or an average of both. The goal is simple. Shoot down all that you see in each level and survive, until you come to the boss, where you will have to fly around and defeat it. So it's like a 2D shooter, only in a 3D environment. Very simple concept that was POORLY developed! Let's see why.

If you haven't already noticed from the footage you've been watching, the graphics look like crap! They basically look like something an N64 game would have had! Some parts of the game were grainy, and sometimes it was kind of hard to tell what the heck you were shooting at!

The controls are playable, but can be very frustrating to deal with! You will use the Wiimote Nunchuck combo, and there are two ways to control: Point the Wiimote at the screen to fire, while using the analog stick in the Nunchuck to fly around, or use the motion controls in the Nunchuck to fly around. The biggest PROBLEM is that BOTH ways of controlling are in effect at the same time! Now it might not be such a problem if you're only going to use the motion controls, but I find that they can sometimes become a hassle to deal with, so I just use the control stick. But because both controlling methods are in effect at the same time, ugh…you know where I'm going with this. It can become a big challenge between you and the motion controls because even the SLIGHTEST tilt of the Nunchuck can throw you off course! To add to the control problem, there's no AUTO-FIRE! And since there are many, many enemies, you will constantly have to keep pressing the A or Z button, which gets pretty tiring after a while!

This is by FAR the shortest game I have ever played for the Wii! On average, you will probably get between 30-40 minutes of gameplay for the entire game! There are only five levels, and each one's length, including the boss fights, will only take you around 5-8 minutes to complete!

Another thing that was annoying is that if you died too many times, you would have to restart the entire game! Save points don't exist in this game! It doesn't matter which level you die your last life on, you will still have to return the beginning of level one. Annoying? VERY!

As you go through each level, there will be items such as upgrades for your weapons, and "boosters!" See? Listen. (Link at the top!) :)

When you beat a level, you can upgrade your robot's stats with the money you collected throughout the level. Another problem is, when you start a new level, your health and stats won't go back up from the last level! So you will basically be spending the majority of your money on health boxes.

The boss fights were, ok. They can be challenging, but can also be pretty frustrating due to the bad controls. One of the names for a boss was Petra. As soon as I heard that, I was like, "What the crap?" What is Petra you might ask? Petra is a city in the Middle East, around 100 miles, south-south east of Jerusalem. I just found the choice of name to be a bit weird, because like the other bosses are Skorpios for Scorpion, and Dracaena, for dragon. Well, actually, it's really pronounced dra-si-na, from the Ancient Greek word, Drakaina, which means "female dragon." But actually, in today's world, Dracaena is a genus of plant! (Link at the top!) :)

Counter Force is not a good game! The graphics are bad, sometimes to the point where you can't even tell what and where the heck you were shooting at, the controls can be frustrating to work with, there's not even an hour's worth of content, unless you die frequently from the bad controls, the sound effects will make your ears bleed, the difficulty is just brutal in the later levels, and the price tag is outrageous! The average price that I've seen throughout many different online retailers, including Amazon.com, was $20! The highest I've seen was $32.95! No, WAY is this game worth that price, or even at $20! At most, $5 is the highest I'd ever want to see anyone pay for this game!

Now even with that long list of negatives, there were some upsides that I found like one, the game is not boring. It's usually fast paced and you will probably not get bored, while playing it. That isn't to say that you will probably get bored with it in general, but probably not when you're playing it. Two, although the graphics are bad, the attacks and explosions did look pretty cool. And three, even though the sound effects were bad, the music was pretty good.

But still, this is definitely one game you probably should avoid. See, the main problem with this game is that it's like 10-15 years too late. I think this game wouldn't have been so bad on the N64, but since we're two generations ahead in the gaming world, this level of "quality," for a game just can't be accepted today.

Now I usually try to have a positive outlook towards any game I play, but that was really hard to do while playing this frustrating button masher.

This game gets a 1.75/5 with the title of Bad.
