Have a blast...

User Rating: 6.5 | Cosmic Smash DC
This game never came to the us, and it doesn´t surprise me. although it´s a fun experience, it´s lack of multiplayer, repetitive gameplay and little value makes it hard to recommend if you don´t like games of this genre .Let´s start:

Gameplay: this is a tennis-based game. you have a raquet and a tennis ball, but you don´t play tennis. instead, you play in a closed room with squares on the other side. you objective is to slam with your tennis ball all of the squares before time´s up. It´s kind of a combination between squash and Breakout. Control is easy and fun to use. you use either the analog stick or the d-pad and the 4 directional buttons. For a better control, you better use the d.pad to move or run. Use the directional buttons to hit the ball, jump or even use a powered up shot. You can combine this movements to do some combos and getting a higher score, and finishing the level with a combo, will lead you to see a replay of your last shot on a different angle. When you finish, you´ll see your score, which is based on your time, lost balls, and a tricky ending (in other words, using a combo to finish the level). This doesn´t add too much on the game, but it´s still good nonetheless. There are 50 levels, formed into a labyrinth style. in some levels after you finish, you can go straight forward, but in others, after you finish you stand in front of a split road. You can choose any way you want. this adds a little value, trying to play on the 50 levels on the game, but after one play it´s kind of hard to come back for more. The levels are almost the same, some with some obstacles like a wall , some with squares that require more shots to be destroyed, etc. There are no bosses, or either story. Immediately when you select "start game" start in the first level. Graphics: all the game´s graphics are real simplistic, but with a simplistic style. Your character has a visible skeleton, and the levels are made simply with lines, green squares or just a blank room. They´re really cool, but lack in variety. in fact, they only exist 3 level styles, which makes the game feel a little dull after some plays. Everything else looks really awesome, but again, it lacks variety (the raquet, the tennis ball, the squares, your character etc.)

Sound: songs in the game are some catchy tunes with an appealing style, but there´re really few in the game (only 4, including the credit´s one) and some voices, the narrator voice (with a female voice translating into japanese) a moan that makes you character sometimes, and the sounds of the ball. Nothing else. but they´re so catchy that you won´t care that much about it.

Value: the weakest point in the game. There´s a web based leaderboard. when you finish the game, a password is showed to you. if you input it on www.cosmicsmash.com, your final score on the game will be showed.that´s it. level´s are so tiring that you won´t want play it twice in a row. also with a lack of multiplayer, it made it a lot shorter..

tilt: it´s a good and fun experience.......while it lasts. you´ll clear it in like an hour (if you play on all levels) and there´s no other mode than 1 player mode. it´s good for a rental or borrowing, but for buying... if you like games with simple controls and hypnotic graphics and gameplay like REZ, Cosmic smash is a good choice.
