If you're a fan of Japanese horror stories then this game is for you.
The one thing that stood out to me while playing Corpse Party was the amazing audio. Despite the 8-bit graphics with definitely kills some of the creep-factor in game, the audio just blows you away.
If you have headphones on I swear you'd start to think that you were suffering for auditory hallucinations. Whispers feel like whispers. There'll be voices in your head.
Corpse Party is definitely freakier with headphones on.
One thing I don't like about the game is the fact that you can't skip over scenes that you've already played through. That's a major setback. Especially if you suffer a bad ending and you want to play through again, you have to wade through 10 - 20 minutes worth of dialog.
If you're not the patient type, this would probably be the most frustrating part of the game.
The characters were great, btw. Corpse Party is definitely story-centered so don't expect too much gameplay. If you're here for the story and the creep-factor, you won't be disappointed. It delivers.
