Before in my original review of Contra I compared the game to Super Mario Bros. and Pac Man and said that it didn't hold up as well as they do. Well over time I have thought about what I said and have changed my opinion. I think that Contra is a great game and I do think that it holds up very well today. Honestly I had forgotten about how much fun I had playing this game when I was a kid and how memorable it is. So yes Contra is a great game and yes it does hold up very well today (in fact I think it even holds up better than Pac Man... but don't let him know I said that). Overall memorable sound effects, great level design and fun gameplay are what make this game such a classic. A must own for old school lovers.
