The Contra series takes the next step

User Rating: 8.6 | Contra Spirits SNES
Contra is definatly one of those games that every young boy played and enjoyed. The gameplay was fun, the music was terrific, and the two player mode was very dynamic in terms of the teamwork involved. The SNES was exciting its fans by releasing there older titles onto the improved 16 bit system of which made the games quite facsinating compared to the whole 8 bit NES. Contra was for sure an anticipated game and made sure not to disappoint the player and its fans. The graphics in this game are nice, the background is more detailed, and the weapons features are more creative. I like how they stick to the cool flip patterns the characters make as they jump...and having the ability to shoot as well at the same time. Another addition which works so well with Zelda III is 2 sweet overhead levels in addition to the 3 side scroll levels. The levels are good and long enough not to bore the heck out of you. The bosses are exciting too, especially the robot dude at the end of level 3 and the final boss, who is a royal pain in the butt to beat. My only complaint about this game is that you can't run out of ammo. You definatly have to have the ability to aim your shots at enemies well, but sometimes, I'd wish I would have to conserve ammo. It just would make things more exciting and interesting. Other than that, another sure fire can't miss SNES game.
