Still one of the best action games

Well you know Contra don't you ? A side-scrolling -most of the time - action game in which you're supposed to shoot a lot of monsters, machines and soldiers that either were infected by aliens or are aliens themselves ( or maybe booth ..... ) , a futuristic and apocalyptic setting, a few bosses here and there, different weapons that come across your way, one-hit kills for your character, cool Terminator-like music and of course the cooperative mode for you and a friend - so you won't curse the difficult of the game alone .

Ok all of that is back on this game in a more powerful hardware . So as the originals the action never stops and if you wanna beat it you better memorize every enemy, and every attack and be prepared when it happens .

While there are only 6 levels they are enough to make it up for a big challenge and later try the Hard difficult setting and then keep cursing so more . The mission game-play vary significantly one to another from top to side perspective, from the basic runnin' and shootin' to riding a bike, hanging from ledges and missiles about to crash and top view action with moving ground all of them while shooting and avoiding attacks from all directions . The game also adds some strategics elements when you realize that is better if you save some bombs or switch that weapon you're gonna need later so you don't waste it now along with one of your few one-hit resisting lives .

The music tracks while not as memorable like the ones in the originals are good and it just comes along with the series, the backgrounds and the graphics overall have plenty of colour and even some 3-D effects . By the way in the intro Bill and Lance - or Jimbo and Rimbo .... or whatever they were called by the American localization of the game in that time - they don't resemble Arnold and Sylvester that much anymore but still it's good .

Overall is a great game with a lot of old-school and hard core action
more If you are into a bit old and pretty challenging games or getting into the Contra series along with the newly DS game titled C4 this is one of the series that is really worth it .
