Not a bad game overall but poor controls, difficulty settings and some annoying demons detract from it.

Hello. Zombiecharlie here. Below is my short review of Constantine PC.
Please feel free to contact me with any queries or questions.

Background

You play as John Constantine, Hellblazer. Magician, detective, exorcist, rogue
demon hunter and chainsmoker. In this game you face hordes upon hordes of
horrible demons from Hell's blackest pits.

The game is based on the DC/Vertigo comic book series John Constantine
Hellblazer and the Warner Bros movie Constantine starring Keanu Reeves. It is a third person shooter with some puzzles involve also. You have the ability to go to first person in "true sight"which alters the visuals to a predator type view of the world. For those of you who haven't seen the movie it really doesn't matter. It is quite easy to play and follow.

The Good:

I really like the backgrounds and settings of the levels and environments. They are really graphic in detail and almost like watching an episode of something. In particular the mortuary. To anyone who is familiar with a hospital or who works in a hospital like I do, the detail is really quite striking.

The opening level Hellblazer and the first introduction to hell are impressive also. Flying cars and objects exploding are great visually to watch. There is a good plot and narrative to the game, which doesn't lead to any confusion.

The streets around Papa Midnite's are stunning visually with the neon lights and that.
The cutscenes are informative and rewarding when they come as they occur after completing a task or defeating an end of level boss.

"Ego por sit perum" ah yes Harry Potter does haunt us after all. This is one of the spells which has to be cast throughout the game. The spells are easy to perform, too easy in fact but come in useful when fighting the demons you face. The large array of ghouls, goblins and enemies does keep you on your toes .In particular does winged flying demons which project fireballs at you are a challenge indeed.

There is a small bit of puzzle solving, nothing too difficult which adds a good dimension to the game and prevents it from becoming to linear.
Hell's Museum in particular has three puzzles to solve in order to unlock a bolted door. Can be tricky but with patience and true sight it becomes clear.
John Constantine does look and speak like Keanu Reeves so to anyone who bought this game for being a fan of the movie you won't be disappointed.

Constantine isn't really a game that I would normally play but is a welcome change from sci-fi or military first person shooters.

The Bad:

Unfortunately the following factors do override any positives from the game.
• Gameplay and Controls
• Easiness
• Short though frustrating campaign.

The most irritating part of the game is easily the controls. You can manipulate them yourself to suit your own style, but the lack of a dedicated jump button and only one speed to control your character is criminal.

This game played on the hardest difficulty setting is still too easy. It is nearly a task in itself to be killed while playing. The overabundance of ammunition, replenishing health can make for a walkthrough especially in the early levels. The overall game is not too long but the in particular three levels are ridiculously long and cause the upmost annoyance.

Level 13: Hell's Temple is exactly that. The amount of limitless enemies which attack you is over the top and the endless mickey mouse puzzle solving is irritating to the point of uninstalling the game.

Overall this game is good but be prepared to repeat areas until you have figured out the particular puzzle or learned how to defeat an enemy.

If you enjoy using magic, casting spells to defeat demons, a fan of the movie or similar games to Constantine then undoubtedly you will enjoy this game.

Would I recommend this game? It wasn't really for me but parts I did enjoy and the street levels are impressive to play in.

Thanks for reading.
