Conquer Online is the dirtiest compile of a Diablo ever and should be killed with fire and holy acid. Not for lie.

Oh man, what in the hell was TQ thinking when they made this game. I played this for a half a chunk of a month and I almost cried it was so bad. In other news, this is probably the worst game I have ever played in my 17 year existance. I've played many bad games, but Conquer Online takes the hit. You can try it if you want, but you'll just stalk that statement. Before you do that, have fun trying to install the game, because the game can take hours to autopatch. But hey, did the lazy developers make it so you download one WHOLE patch like wow did? Nope, instead you have to download every single patch ever made manually. That ain't buying the lie! You know that Conquer patching is usually a rambunctious 3 hours? But the broken patching is only the beginning of the problems with this game. Umm...here's some more problems with the game. Specifically, there isn't a game...

As it is with most, if not all RPG games, the story is largely forgettable. Conquer Online is supposed to take place in the past centuries of China where what appears to be an evil kung-fu guild taking over the entire palace. Sure, we've all been there. They don't tell you anything other than that in the actual game, just on the website, so its a given that its just a lame excuse to get you into action. But that's not the point. What makes this game so bad is that its full of lies. It says it's downloadable for free, has a great comunity, and revoulutionizes the RPG industry. None of these are true. Sure, you can download it for free, but you can't 'play' it for free, it's community is bad (making it impossible to make any online friends), and it doesn't do anything to revoulution anything. In fact, it really doesn't do anything and simply has no reason to exsist. Too bad it does.

In conquer, you get a whopping 4 classes to create your character with. That's right, I said 4 classes, varying from the useless warrior, the useless trojoin, the semi-useless Tao (which is the game's version of a mage), and the overpowered archer. Trojoin and Warrior are pretty much the same so that's a minus 2. You know a mmorpg sucks when you only get 2 'different' types of classes to pick from. You may as well cater to your target audience. Each of these classes have their own so-called special abilities, and the Archer is dead on with his Airnotical power. The archer can, for no reason, fly in the air at any given time making him COMPLETLY invincible to anybody thats not airborn. Wow, flying immortal archers. TQ is a genious. You can see the unbalanciness here; 95% of the community are archers, outrageously blundering whatever fun the game tries to bring to you.

Then there's the game, or as it claims to be. Conquer has 6 different large enviroments to explore that are broken up into loading screens. They all have goofy, uninspired names like "Maple Forest" and "Oak power Woodcity" that sounded as if they were ripped off of other games. You control your pug-ugly character, who has the personality of a pixeled brick, in a 3rd person overhead view, much like in Diablo. All of the characters in the game are exactly the same except for different hair and different avatars. You cannot adjust height, facial features, or even skin (which, of course, is probably what you'd expect from a sleezy game made in the same year as World of Warcraft that offered).

What do you do with that guy, you ask? You'll click anywhere on the world and he'll walk towards it, though he'll probably get stuck behind a tree or rock in the process. The game's pathfinding is aweful, but if you click on the screen just right, you can get your character to run back and forth in the same spot forever while you go AFK. If you wish to kill something, click on a monster and he'll attack it. Want to talk to a vendor or shopkeeper, just click on them and make a trade (this can also be done with other players, probably the only cool thing in the game). Quite simple, right? Your darn right it is, because that's really all you do! You can play the game for a short ammount of time without paying, but after you level yourself up to level 50, you can't go any farther and you must pay!!! I'm serious, the gameplay is just that. Its basically a breed of runescape and some really, really bad mod (don't ask how they fare together).

The sound is entirely forgettable. The game DOES boast that it has music, but the chance of it playing is spotty. Frankly, that's good, since the actually music that plays is exactly the same music featured in Runescape. Hey, notice how this game keeps ripping off of other games? All other sounds are completly unimpressive bird chirps and sword scuffling, followed by an annoying, repeatitive "Oough!" that is uttered by your attacked character in battle. It is repeatitive and is repeated to a painful extent. Ooh, but the inclusion is that men say "Oough!" and women ramble "Aiiee!" like an old woman that sound as if their temples were resting on the chopping block during the voice recording session. It pains my brain to mention it any more, so lets forget that aspect for now!

Do you like to click everywhere? Because this game has it. Click to kill a monster, click to move, click to kill another monster, and nothing more. Even World of Warcraft had little need for human intellegence where you'd need to flip on a few healing spells or DK powers to keep yourself lubercated. Conquer online's gameplay is just to click on a monster, stare at the screen, and hope it dies before you do. There are no spells to cast unless your a Tao, and even if you are, you may need to click your mouse 3 to 4 times for it to work.

Conquer isn't just boring, folks. Its unfair. The A.I. is always stronger than you, or so weak that you get no EXP from killing it. As a level 50, you can spend hours shooting at a giant green monkey at level 30 and he won't go down until some other player who has paid little to one penny at the greedy community to kill it with one hit at lvl 5; simply because he pays the community and I don't. You pay community and you get an advantage bit time. Then, its possible that the giant green monkey will kill you instantly, regardless of what level you are. You can be standing 20 feet away from a monster, yet he can still lacerate you with his claws. And in fact, that same monster, despite being a yard away, can suddenly glitch and teleport right on top of you and kill you in a second's time. The best thing a lvl 50 who doesn't pay to play the game can kill is a chicken. Fantastic.

Besides fighing the A.I., the game features a poorly-textured PVP arena. PVP stands for "Player vs. Player". That's right, players can kill each other, and its the main focus of the game! Its probably the best aspect of the entire game, and its still broken. Huge inbalances in the game here. A level 130 can be hacking a lvl 15 "child" type miner but she won't die because she pays to play for the game and the level 130 doesn't. For this advantage, she can simply sneeze on her attacker, sending him flying across the map and dying. Having to pay money in order to have a fair chance in a supposedly free game is foolish enough, but considering what an aweful game Conquer online already is, it litterly seems insane.

And if that weren't enough, paying money is probably the only way you can get respect in the game. Specifically, the community in conquer is horrible. Nobody follows the rules, nobody follows the Terms of Use, nobody talks to you or helps you with quests, and there are no role-players on a game that's built upon living a new life in a different world, even if it looks like an aweful Flash graphic game. People will just run up to you, kill you, take all your equipment, and just bully you madly. A jumping feature is including in the game, and since experts think this is a fast way to move around, the end result is a bunch of bunny hopping players who jump up and down like ninja height that gets extremly corny. Even the game's moderators......oh, wait! I didn't know the game HAS NO MODERATORS.

That's right, the community is a bloodbath. Swearing, cursing, bullying -- its all here and there's a 1% chance of the developers adding a report button, because there isn't any. The TOU despise bad behavior in ultra-harsh text consisting of "Don't do this or you will be banned for the rest of your exsistance. No questions asked!", but when we hit the play button, they don't seem to care. Why does the Terms of Use say mild swearing is not aloud, even though the game has a language filther and there are npcs in the game that swear? Think the developers can cast off the yoke of that stereotype without creating another horrible game? There's no reason to read the Terms of Use, because due to the lack of moderators and report button, none of the rules are maintained.

Luckily, I wasn't able to suffer much of this pain too much because Conquer Online is also one of the most laggy games I've ever played. Never is there a good connection to the servers. If your lucky, the game handles just okay. But on the many days where the server just can't hold up to the players it has (maybe about 26 or so), the framerate just dies so many times, as I can draw faster frames on a paper with a pen. I can only count in my head the days where the framerate was so bad that nothing moved in the game at all. My computer was merely decent back at the time I was playing, but I could handle games like Far Cry 2 and Doom 3 fine, so why does a game with such a lousy graphics engine cause such a slowdown?

After hearing me "rant" throughout this review about stealing ideas from other games, its just a given the creators are just trying to blantly rip off of Wow and Guild Wars, two far superior games released in the same time as this monsterosity. There's more to it than that, but you still hit a high note. I am comparing World of Warcraft to Conquer because it has all the great features that WoW had, including mounts and slightly larger mounts called "epic mounts". There's also a character equipment selection that follows the exact blueprint of WoW, showing you your current helmet, neck armor, chest and legs, shoes, special trinkets, rings, weapon and off-hand weapon. As if it wasn't hilarious enough that Conquer's stone cities blantly rip off of Stormwind's similar stone structure, Conquer's has an epic occestral title song that plays loud and clear and sounds exactly like WoW, though its amazingly forgettable at the same time. Even some of the monster sounds, such as the hawk and owl, are stripped right from WoW's far better soundtrack.

But, primarily its based on a similar engine, Conquer online mainly steals its interferance from last year's Diablo. It copies Diablo in so many ways its almost plagerisim. It all has the same interferance bar, it has the same numbers that show up on the screen whenever you kill something, it has the same red and blue sphere that show your health and mana, and the exact same fire spells that turn the room entirely pitch black and then light up again. While these were great key additions that made Diablo so great, here, to put it quite bluntly, it is utter crap.

The zany mental paitients at TQ Digital Entertainment are all the creators of this disaster. I know what your thinking. I am being very harsh. "How bad could this game be? You're just being judging it because it doesn't look as good as Modern Warefare 2 or whatever."

No, I am not sarcastic. I'm not lying when I say Conquer online has got to be the worse game I have ever played. Worse than Streetfighter versus X-men? Not worse than Gods and Generals? Not worse than Big Rigs? Not worse than the Saturn port of Doom 1?

Yes. Conquer Online is, without a doubt, even worse then those games. At least those games gave you a fair chance of playing without bias. In Conquer, its practically impossible to play the game right with a fair chance without bribing the community with a penny. Then again, Conquer online steals off of Diablo, an actually good game, so its obvious that the creators played that far better game. Were the creators smoking hallusenegetic drugs in the process? Diablo was fun because it has amazing particles, groundbreaking graphics (at least for its time) and a fun, balanced combat system. Conquer online is no such game. There aren't any good looking particles, and even lit torches in the dungeons don't even animate. Even Quake 1, made in the 90's, had animated torches!
(Wait, that's kind of unfair to say, since making animated torches would probably require *lighting flashes* effort in the game)

If you saw that they were handing out free copies of this game at the grocery store and they were next to some Barbie Horse Adventure games at $19.99, you'd take ALL of the Barbie Horse Adventure games, and if they were out of stock, you'd take a handful of AOL CDs costing $29.99, knowing that the Conquer CD would have been less amusing than drink coasters, microwave light displays, or watching a chick ride on a pink pony.

Don't ever play this game. Avoid it proverbially. I wish I could say something good about this game. The last thing I want to do on gamespot is rate a game a low score, espeicially if that game is going to be the worst game I have ever played.. But when a game doesn't even come with a Readme or license document, its hard to take it serious. Nothing more, possibly less; Conquer online just sums to one huge abysmal playthorugh that you will forget in a minute's notice, and if it is possible to forget it faster, that's great.

SUMMERY: Long ago, I knew an emo girl named Michelle who was danish and grew up in Europe. She was a diehard fan of a punk rockband called 'My Chemical Romance'. She had some sort of video game that she used to make a 3D animated movie based on them that she was going to make and email to me in 2 weeks. However, it didn't happen like that. What I got in the mail was a hazy voice-over, a bunch of emos, and a pair of aliens that attacked the movie's actor with selected 3D functionality screnes ocasionally going over slow speeds exceeding no more than 5 frames per second.

I rate Conquer Online below even that. In Conquer, those aliens would probably glitch on top of you and kill you. That is assuming you've actually payed the community; otherwise you wouldn't even have a chance, litterly. Horrendous, and I mean that. No joke; I now name this my least favorite game of all time. Conquer hasn't any decent voice-over to start the game, nor any aliens versus emos displays, and there's not even an introduction to tell you what to do or how to use the interferance.

Frankly, when you uninstall the game, it takes you to the website. There, they have a fancy, smancy quiz-like page where they ask you why the game was bad and what other game you perfer over it (probably so they can rip off of that game too.) What a delightful surprise.

If you do get this unfourtunete demise, don't tell them anything. Ok, maybe a harsh email. But no more, ok? I mean...they don't even uphold the rules their website makes. On the contrary, they break them theirselves. Conquer online is a blant rip off of Diablo. It even rips off of Julious's old saying "I came, I saw, I conquered" on its advertisements (the ads that show pictures of pretty young women protraying as actual players, which of course is just a crynical lie). Conquer, too, rips off of dragonball Z by making dragonballs a collector's item in the game. Epic mounts, monster sounds, and other awesome tweaks from Wow are to be found here. That's equalling to a ripping-offing of 4 media climates. Wow. Save your self the tears and pain; don't ever play this game.
