This game is an absolute snore-fest!
This horror level in this game is set so low that it makes the Legend of Zelda dungeons feel like your going through Silent Hill. The only way I could describe it to you is that the game gives away any scary surprise before it even happens. A good example is when you first fight an enemy. Your Boss tells that their is an addict coming your way, so your first instinct (if you've played horror games before) is to hold your position and wait until the guy comes but your boss tells you he'll probably wait until you let your guard down. So basically while your wandering around, you already expect the enemy to come out of nowhere and it ruins the premise of being a horror game. Imagine if your watching a horror movie, and right before a scary scene happens, The Movie pauses and shows the words "SCARY SCENE ABOUT TO HAPPEN." before it shows. It totally ruins it's premise of being scary because you know what is going to happen.
The level design is also horrendous. You will fall asleep after walking in hallways after hallways of a seemingly never-ending building. It also doesn't help that you can't run, you have to hold the sprint button and can only run for a short time; so your walking (and rather slowly) through these not so scary hallways and fighting an enemy every half hour. Yawn. And this so-called "unique" combat system isn't very new. The combat is pretty much like Oblivion. Also, haven't the concept of getting weapons through the environment been done? Like a lot? Just to name a few: The Punisher, Crackdown, Fallout 3, Dead Rising, Alone in the Dark. Must I go on?
In Conclusion, don't buy this game. It's incredibly boring, Introduces features that's already been done before like it is new, and fails to be a horror game. Unless you have trouble sleeping, "Condemned: Criminal Origins" will help you sleep with uninspired level design.
