"Conan: Hall of Volta" for the Apple II was released at a time when game graphics were paltry (only because technology hadn't advanced enough to allow for quality graphics), and games were unnecessarily difficult, and of course games were on those huge floppy disks.

"Conan: Hall of Volta" featured a number of levels which required the player to maneuver Conan over nigh-impossible jumps, avoid swooping killer bats, and stay away from an all-seeing eye. Conan had a sword with which he could whack his foes, but far too often the foes were quicker, and Conan more often than not would be the one struck down; it was just easier to jump over everyone and run away.

Like many of the Apple II games, all of the action in "Conan: Hall of Volta" took place on a single screen. When the player moved Conan past all the obstacles, the departure from the screen signaled the end of the level.

"Conan: Hall of Volta" was a fun game for its time, but the crude graphics and limited play value are incomparable with the games of today. It's amazing how far videogames have come in 22 years.
