A good game, if a little slow.

COH: Gold Edition is a good game, but it leans more heavily towards strategy than some of it's RTS counterparts. Not that that's a bad thing, although with all that strategy comes some micro-managing. Gamers these days are looking for a streamlined experience, and if you don't manage your squads carefully(all of them) YOU WILL LOSE. That said, when you're down planning and executing the action comes. And it comes fast and brutal. You really have to be careful in this game-you can't just throw units at each other. You have to make sure your units are in cover, tell them to throw frag or incendiary grenades, and be willing to retreat if you are overwhelmed, since units take a while to build. Also, you can command units to pick up weapons that are scattered around the battlefield, or those that are dropped when you kill an enemy. And then there's armor. Armored units take a long time to unlock and build, but if you can build up a fair force of nice tanks, you can roll over the enemy. Literally.

The graphics are nice, and the environments are truly something to behold. It's like you're there in France, fighting against the krauts. You never know if the next house will hold a sniper, or could possibly be a safe haven for your own troops. It's a deep game, and I recommend it. If you're looking for the best WWII RTS out there, this is your game.
