And if you thought Tiberian Dawn was too easy...

...Westwood brings you The Covert Operations!

Following the (obvious) success of Tiberian Dawn, Westwood quickly decided to work on an expansion pack for it, and it came out one year after the release of the first game.

This expansion pack doesn't add any new unit to the mix and it only adds new single player missions and multiplayer maps, as well as new music tracks to listen to while battling the enemy.

The new missions, unlike the original ones, do not feature briefing videos. Instead, we get a small briefing message telling us what's going on and our mission objectives. I am somewhat fine with this, because the missions do not follow a precise storyline unlike the original campaign. However though, I feel they could have expanded a little the briefings, because some are just too short. For example there was one mission which had the following briefing: "This mission is simple: GDI has taken a region that belongs to us. Take it back." and made it feel like they couldn't bother about adding even a tiny plot behind the mission.

Anyways... as for the gameplay, it's the C&C you've played before, only harder. In fact the new missions have an insane amount of enemies which will do anything they can in order to destroy you. The missions require precise strategies in order to win and only the most skilled C&C players will be able to beat them. The new multiplayer maps are just as good as the other ones and if you've got tired of playing the same maps all over then the expansion will let you battle on some new maps.

There isn't much to say about Covert Operations. It is mostly a level pack rather than an expansion pack. It is good at what it is, providing new quality missions for the most hardcore C&C fans, however, apart from this, there's absolutely nothing else this expansion has to offer. This is why I'm only giving it 7,5
