Interesting features, simple control scheme and engaging mission = Good games but grows old and turns boring too quickly

User Rating: 6 | Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 PC
Red Alert 3 is another installment into the command and conquer franchise that doesn't really bring anything new to the tried and tested C&C formula.
You build your base, scout the enemy, attack, counter their attack, use powers and blow up someone with a nuke!

It all works really well, first time i piced this up it was very easy to play as it was everything you expected it to be and everything worked the way you would imagined it would work after playing other C&C titles. This starts out as a positive as it makes it an easy game to get into. But all too soon this is a big downside. You soon find it all to samey as every other comand and conquer game just with better graphics... well maybe.

The movement is horribly dodgy as units find it hard to get to the right place quickly and often get stuck in crowds where you have to pull them out wasting all of your well rehearsed clicks per minute on moving unit after unit out of each others way.
Further more there's the fact that the computer oponent is way to easy and then way to hard, there is no middle ground. This gives a very steep learning curve and only the most dedicated can force the issue and become better than the harder levels of the computer.

All in all this is a good game if your not going to play it enough to notice its flaws. Pathfinding issues and unchallenging to overkilling computer opponents make the gameplay a selected taste.
The cut-scenes do add a well needed touch of humor to the game but these too grow pointless and boring very quickly and you'll find yourself skipping them after half a campaign as the acting will dive you up the wall.

In conclusion, not a bad game but one that has its issues that will drive the more hardcore gamer insane and adds nothing new to the age old real time strategy that akes this game too like anything else out there on the market.
