It comes and goes, but it never leaves for good.

User Rating: 7.5 | Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge PC
Yuri's Revenge is one of the best expansion packs I've ever seen. It really does the job of a real expansion pack, and that is to ADD AND IMPROVE. It certainly did a lot to improve its predecessor, Red Alert 2. From the balance in the factions, to the new units and weapons and even the variety in sound, it definitely wipes all of Red Alert 2's shortcomings and mistakes away.

The love for the game, as I said in the review deck, did come and go for me. Although there are loads of maps and a decent campaign, it didn't seem to make a difference, gameplay is just too repetitive.

The graphics, well, there's not much to say about them because they're still just like RA2. Still not 3D, still not proportional, and a little too bright.

As for sound, well, I'm glad each kind of vehicle at least now has a voice of its own, instead of in RA2, all the vehicles had just 4 voices, 1 for Soviet land vehicles, 1 for Soviet ships, 1 for Allied land vehicles, 1 for Allied ships. The explosions and firefight sounds didn't really catch me, but they were good nonetheless.

The great thing about Yuri's Revenge is that it removes the overly buffed up units kinda thing it had going on in Red Alert 2. Everything was way too strong, there were many unnecessary units; Yuri's Revenge fixes this problem by removing the useless ones, making the strength of regular units sensible, and adding new ones that actually have some utility and versatility in combat.

It's a great game, and a great expansion set, no doubt. But it won't be something you'll stay home from work for. Sometimes it's there, other times it's not. Tough luck.

All in all, pretty average, but deserving of its praise nonetheless.
