It's an alright little RTS game, but it's not Command and Conquer
The game itself is an enjoyable, if conventional, RTS. It borrows heavily from both the Westwood and Blizzard line of RTS games, and is something of an amalgam of the two. The game is mostly devoid of strategy and comes across as more of a blizzard style twitch fest, where reflexes and hotkey skills are more important than actual strategy.
The 3 campaigns are ludacrisly easy even on the hardest difficulty setting, and the multiplayer arena is largely populated by n00bs who've obviously never played an RTS before. The three factions aren't particularly well balanced, and a skilled USA player can always dominate in a multiplayer match.
The game's story is non-existant, and the wonderfully kitsch live action cutscenes are absent from this outing. Generals feels sterile and generic next to it's more narrative and personality driven cousins of Tiberium and Red Alert. If you're looking for "Baby's First RTS," this game should fit the bill nicely. If you're a CnC veteran looking for more Command and Conquer awesomeness, you would do well to look elsewhere.
