An Expansion pack done right, but still Halo Wars is better.

User Rating: 7.5 | Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath X360
Kane's Wrath is a stand alone expansion pack to Command & Conquer 3 and in terms of features it's more than enough content for your money. Unfortunately it's not nearly as enjoyable to play as Halo Wars, so I recommend you to play that instead of this one.

DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY

Campaign in Kane's Wrath is actually a prequel setting right after the events of the second Tiberium War. Brotherhood of Nod is presumably in chaos and it's up to you as an associate of Kane to make it big again. This is done via 13 different missions. Every mission is briefed by a nice live action cutscene and it's clear that this game doesn't take itself too seriously. Just sit back and enjoy for what it is.

TOO SMALL TEXT

Graphics are pretty simple, but good nonetheless. It's quite easy to tell the difference between units, but the environments could have done some more work. The worst thing about the graphics is that those necessary texts are WAY too small. I have a 37" HD TV and I still had to get closer to the screen to see what's going on at times. Sound design is functional, but the comments of different units loop way too often and it gets annoying. Also the frame rate takes a serious hit at times when there's too much action on screen.

CONTROLS ARE DONE BETTER IN HALO WARS

Controls are functional in Kane's Wrath, but still there's just too much to handle with all those way points and strategies in multiple fronts. Halo Wars has already shown how it's done so playing something else just doesn't feel all that fun. C&C is PC game ported to Xbox360 and the end result is not as good as console gamers should have deserved.

TON OF CONTENT

Kane's Wrath has a lot more to offer outside that actual campaign. Kane's Challenge mode let's you choose one of nine different factions and then battle against all other armies in ten different challenges. This means that there are a lot of challenges to conquer, if you wish to have all those achievement points. Skirmish let's you practice for Xbox Live matches against up to three AI controlled opponents.

Multiplayer is also a big part and you gain achievement points for playing games with each of the different factions. Game modes are Versus, King of The Hill, Capture and Hold, Capture the Flag and Siege. There are over 50(!) maps to choose from, so if you are into this kind of online action then Kane's Wrath is definitely for you.

EXPANSION PACK DONE RIGHT

Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath is a nice example on how an expansion pack is done right. It offers more the same, but a lot more and it all works. Just remember that Halo Wars is better and you should play that instead of this one.
