A free game that actually competes with its retail competetors; this is truly a great FPS to get into.

User Rating: 9 | Combat Arms PC
Not only is this the best FPS I've played, but it's free!

This is truly a fantastic piece of work here delivered to us by the folks at Nexon. This is a fast paced FPS that even beginners to the FPS genre and veterans alike can both enjoy. The variety of items and upgrades has been seen here and there, but the overall gameplay outweighs the all-to-familiar aspects of this FPS.

Graphics: The graphics seem to look pretty good, about the same details you'd see in your latest Counter Strike title. Any decent PC can run this smoothly, and this is key. It's the speed and efficiency of the gameplay, not the flashy graphics. Combat Arms delivers passable and sometimes appaeling visuals to your average PC that still keeps the gameplay it's main priority. The graphics do look good, and many of the textures and static details, regardless of where you stand in the map, are compressed for gameplay speed and good framerate while still looking good.

Sound: The music score is alright for the menus, something you would think of the typical 'honorable (anti-terrorist) cliche scheme. The footsteps, guns, and explosions all sound fairly well, therefore sound should not be an issue with this title.

Controls: Very typical and easy to get used to. You may also bind most, if not all of the functions to whatever keys you'd like. The gameplay's speed allows quick manuvering of the controls (after you let go sprint, your character won't stop and take a breather for realism, you whip your gun right out again almost instantly). At times, the mouse movements may seem slow, as I have a personal problem with trouble moving my mouse horizontally (left and right) while shooting. However, seeing how I use a wireless USB mouse, this could just be a personal issue.

Gameplay: Fast paced, balanced respawn times and locations and functionalities. Although it may be possible to spawn camp it is unlikely as you start off with a 3 second invunerability to damage when spawning. The smooth framerate is a huge plus. The aiming is also a familiar tactic we've seen before, with the crosshair that enlarges when shooting and moving at the same time. Jumping and crouching are as expected, not too high jumps, and realistic fall damages. Overall, the sleek and immersive design of the gameplay itself draws you in to want to try many different kinds of weapons and such as you earn yourself experience each round and money.

Another feature is the ability to earn money in rounds. Unlike some FPS that follow the whole 'buying your gear' revolution, Combat Arms' system has made it easy even for the casual gamer to earn currency and experience through fun gameplay, meaning less (grind).

To conclude, this game will blow you away with its impressively fast and smooth gameplay. The weapons also seem to be quite balanced. It's sleek and smooth gameplay draws you in to want to play for hours, even. This is a game that, in my opinion, beats MANY retail FPS games. There is a large expanding community and even within the first week there are already thousands playing this masterpiece. Head over to Nexon and grab yourself a free copy of this sleek, fast, and action packed experience!
