Sega PROVES it can hold its own in delivering fast-paced puzzle games!

If somebody told me 23 years ago that I would one day be writing video game reviews not ONLY for Nintendo video games, but for games originally published on a Sega platform, I wouldn't have believed them. I was deeply en... Read Full Review

It was a fun, jewelled up puzzle game for it's time.

I guess you could say Columns was Sega's answer to Tetris and I think it's a good one too.The objective of this game is to line up 3 of the same colored jewels in a vertical or diagonal pattern to make them disappear... Read Full Review

Columns is a simple puzzle game, all you have to do is align 3 or more of the same colour gems in a row or diagonally and they disappearing, score you points. The more you do this, the more difficult the game gets. The g... Read Full Review

It's the baby food of puzzle games.

Columns is a lot like many other puzzle games out there intent on reinventing the wheel. I could go on about how Tetris is unmatchable, but that would be glib and actually untrue, since Dr. Mario and Puyo Puyo (AKA Mean ... Read Full Review

Tetris. Tetris. Tetris. Why does nobody care about Columns?

You'll never like this game without playing it. You just can't. This game was too much underrated for anyone to actually buy it. But since it came with our consoles or in a game pack, let's review it, shall we? The ... Read Full Review

Beweled would be nothing without this game.

I still play this game to this day. It's just such a massively addictive game. It's logic at it's finest and I honestly think that another should be created for the generation of now. I did prefer the SMS version to t... Read Full Review

Anathor game that was worth playing in the 90's

Columns was somthing worth playing on your Mega Drive before DR Robotnix's Mean Bean Machine which was a look alike version of Columns, where your mostly making the more colour jewels expolde a three line of Red gems tha... Read Full Review

    Just as addictive as Tetris.

Columns gets ripped on a lot for being a Tetris ripoff. While it has similar gameplay characteristics with blocks falling and creating lines it goes a little deeper than it shows on the surface. First of all you eliminat... Read Full Review

Simply what a puzzle game should be.

The puzzle genre has been dead for some years, its a relic from simpler times. Its a genre that can not compete with action-packed blockbusters that grace our consoles currently. But every now and then taking some time o... Read Full Review

This game has aged slightly worse than Tetris, but not as much as you might think

Columns had only one thing going for it back in the day, albeit a very important one: it was the Genesis' Tetris. Over the years, Columns became the base for Puyo Puyo, Super Puzzle Fighter and a buch of other puzzlers. ... Read Full Review
