Brilliant rally game, the first to offer a realistic rally experience.
As far as I know this was the first rally game to actually play like real rallying. There was VRally and Sega rally but in those you are racing around tracks against other cars. CMR for the first time let you attack stages and try to set the fastest time compared to other competitors (like real rallying). I guess if your not a big motorsport fan this might be a drawback but for someone who liked the WRC this was exactly the right way to go.
Its really a lot of fun, lots of authentic cars and really good realistic looking stages with a wide variety of conditions that effect how you drive. The car handling is simply fantastic and so much fun to play.
Its dated now of course but back then this was one of the best driving games you could buy, along with the similar but track based Toca Touring Cars (based on the same game engine) by codemasters. In terms of simulation the actual competitions these games were way ahead of anything else.
