Cloning Clyde is pure and simple entertainment, pure and simple.
The gameplay is pretty easy in terms of the controls, the learning curve, and the challenge.
It's very much like an old 2D platform game crossed with a puzzle game. You don't have to think too hard to solve the puzzles, but it's also not mind-numbing button mashing.
I find myself playing a level or two of the game when I want to get a quick 20 minutes of gaming in without getting completely immersed in a bigger, louder shoot-em-up game.
The graphics are also simple, but that just adds to the fun. Clyde (and all his variations) are drawn with just the right amount of zaniness. And the different levels or challenges in each of the levels are similarly wacky.
Nothing at all too fancy about it, but it's 100% successful at being the kind of game it is. And the Gamespot review is spot-on that if you liked playing the old Lost Vikings game, then you'll definitely like this one, too.
So there you have it...pure and simple entertainment, pure and simple.
