Super Mario Bros. is a great 2D Platformer for arguably the best home console, the NES. Super Mario Bros. kick started console gaming due to it's quality and popularity. No matter how many times I play it, nothing beats the feeling I get when the classic Mario music starts as I begin the game. Going to the beginning of the game to the end of the game, is no easy feat. Back in the old days, or at least NES days, there was no saving progress. Some gamers were lucky to get continues. In Super Mario Bros., if you run out of lives, game over, back to the beginning. There are 32 stages (8 worlds, 4 levels in each world.) On the fourth level on each world, you find yourself in a large castle, with lava and fire, and you fight bowser at the end. You just have to get past him, jump on an ax, the bridge he stands on will collapse, and he will fall into the lava. For seven out of eight of these stages, you rescue the little mushroom man, which you get, "Thanks Mario! But the princess is in a different castle." I adds length to the game, but by the fifth or sixth stage like this, you wonder, how many damn castle are there. As the game progresses, naturally, the levels get harder, but some things are just unnecessary. For example, sometimes in order to progress, you have to go across the screen in a certain way, like, if there were three layers, first layer, top layer, middle layer, would be an order, and if you don't do it, the level remains on loop. By the time the game is over, it feels like a well earned victory when you finally rescue the princess. No game has had an impact on the video game world like Super Mario Bros., therefore this game is an instant classic.
