It's rare when game shows converted to video games turn out the same...not the case here!!

User Rating: 8.5 | Classic Concentration NES
I have loved this game since the day I got it (for Christmas in 1991...still have the same copy too after almost 20 years!) and I love it. Not so much I play it every day but every once in awhile it's fun...I got this game the same day I got Marble Madness...an equally excellent game.

Gametek was the King of Game Show ports back in the late 80s to mid 90s. They did the best they could with many game shows. Wheel of Fortune they did a pretty good job on, and Jeopardy! (I have NO idea why Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek wanted nothing to do with being in video games...Vanna was all for it!), as well as Family Feud they did okay on. But with Classic Concentration they did it almost perfectly!

PROS:
Almost exactly like the game show, with contestants, the backdrop and the puzzle board.

CONS:
No actual theme music, no Alex Trebek (Trebek didn't start showing up in his Gameshow Video Game ports until the mid 90s.), and no red and green TAKE cards.

The game was true to the game show though. It took two rounds to move on to the final round, in which you played for a car...which looked the same every damn time no matter which model you chose last. The prizes featured in each round remained the same EVERY time you played...for example:

ROUND 1: ASIAN TRIP, MOTORCYCLE, CHINA, TV, SPA, VCR, RING, SOFA, MINK COAT, SPEED BOAT, PIANO

ROUND 2: MICRO WAVE, SURF BOARD, RUG, CLOCK, BOOKS, BRASS BED, WATER SKIS, WALL PAPER, TEA SET,

ROUND 3: CD'S, PATIO SET, BMX BIKE, POOL, BBQ, LAWN MOWER, SKI TRIP

No I'm NOT a sadist, i've just played this game soooo many times that I remember what prizes are in which specific round. The bonus round I don't mind, but I wish they would of jumbled it up a little bit. Buit after two rounds of winning, you go on to the bonus round where you try for a car...and it is pretty exciting for an NES bonus round.

Anyways...I think everyone should play this game. Either with a friend or against the computer, Classic Concentration is a really good Game (and I miss the game show terribly!) to play every once in awhile...so if you are at your local flea market, hobby store that sells NES games or pawn shop, and you see this, and it's reasonably priced, don't pass it up!
