A lot movie-based games are nothing but a giant slap in the face. Clash of The Titans: The Game, is a good example.
PROS: Its a God of War clone. The game actually follows the story quite well. A lot of content is in the game.
CONS: Its a God of War clone. Camera is a pain. The voice-acting is LAUGHABLY BAD. the whole Game is easy, making the Upgrade system surprisingly pointless.
When i heard this was announced, i had to 2 things to say.
1: "Hah, it'll blow! It's a movie license game, they're rarely good."
and 2: "It's just another God of War clone."
As much i am a fan of God of War, I don't mind video game companies ripping off the gameplay, as long its enjoyable enough to play the whole game through... it wasn't. It's not because it was copying God of War, its because it IS practically God of War, set in the world of Greek Mythology, killing things with huge blades, quick time events, a fixed camera (which is horrible in this game, btw.) And an upgrade system. The should of just called God of the War of the Titans, or something.
This is both good and bad, because I'm a huge fan of God of War, but Clash of the Titans does nothing differently, nothing, zilch, nada. The visuals look like the same, the controls function the same. The good is that it's epic, it keeps you at the edge of your seat, but the problem is that the game is pretty much an "easy" ride. Which is probably because of the upgrade system. Once you upgraded a weapon once or twice, you can pretty much beat it.
Thankfully, the game at least follows the story The game is trying so hard to be faithful to the movie. It falls flat with hilariously bad voice acting. And the entire game itself is actually pretty lengthy about 10 to 15 hours of gameplay, extras, etc. And that is actually pretty good. The camera is pain. Its hard to describe, but if you played a crummy God of War clone before, you probably know what i am talking about.
But You know one thing about Movie based games. A lot of them are nothing but a giant slap in the face. Clash of The Titans: The Game, is a good example. It maybe worth maybe a cheap rent, if your in the need of a good hack in slash fix. But if your gonna do that, just buy God of War instead. Mkay?
