Fun and serious game.

This game is fun and serious at the same time. Personally I’m a big fan of real time play with games such as Command and Conquer, Total War series, and Sid Meier’s civil war collections. I’ve always had issues with sides taking turns, because life doesn’t operate that way. Even more I do not like games that involve computerized dice which causes games to be won or lost, because of the role of the dice instead of skills. But I have to hand it to Sid Meier for the Civilization collection, because his turn based games are an exception to what I believe about turn based games.

This game is fun, because a person can play the game anyway he or she wants. Also a person’s strategy might have to change depending on the placement of their settlements on every new map. My favorite situation is when I can take a corner of a continent and go for a land grab till I run into other civilizations. The micromanagement is easy, but a person still needs to have a plan and pay attention to detail. The Civlopedia has come in handy a few times and I’m glad is on the game.

The chieftain or easiest level is no cake walk for new people. During one of my first maps I had it on the easiest and I got my butt kicked for not playing smart. For most games a person can afford to make mistakes on the easy level and survive with ease, but I had to start a new map when the computer got through my outer defensives when I had a weak inner defense. Civilizations III is the first time I sat down and played it with seriousness from when I played a bit of the first civilization game, and right away I could tell that the strategy in the games are the same but with the newer games with better graphics. I haven’t played Civilizations IV yet but I bet that it is going to be the same as the other three but with better graphics.
