Regardless of this game receiving to much praise from some of its fans today, it remains a must play for everyone.

Possibly one of the most revered RPGs of all times, this 16 bit classic screamed for me to replay it once again to refresh my memory.

I personally love the gameplay, there's no random encounters (thank God) so you can avoid the enemies that are in the environments you explore, though sometimes a fight is impossible to avoid. The combat system isn't turn based like in the likes of Final Fantasy, but it isn't exactly fast paced either, it hits a sweet spot so you wont feel either bored or frustrated, there's a great deal of skills for you get and you can perform different combos with the characters in your party later on.

The story is quite simplistic in comparison to a good deal of later RPGs, if i were to make a general summary i would say that the world in danger due to some bad dude that's incredibly strong, and logically you're trying to stop him. The sweetness of the story isn't tied to the general plot, but in what way the plot itself progresses; And by that i mean that you're going to travel trough various, detailed eras to progress the story, in which some of the actions of your characters are going to take affect in present and future events, and, because the game has a number of different endings (at least 10... different... endings...), your actions are going to affect the outcome of the story aswell.

By going to different eras, you'll find a good deal of characters that join you, which are charming and likeable (especially a chick that you'll meet in the stone age), some of them (like Frog, a character from the medieval era) have a good backstory for us to know more about them. The main character is Chrono, he's silent and is basically your avatar.

The visuals are beautiful and each era you visit will have a different vibe, filled with detail. The enemies are varied and well designed, the sprites are all well made, and the environments are pretty good aswell. The soundtrack is excellent, with the musical score from the legendary Yasunori Mitsuda (the guy that made the soundtrack of Chrono Cross and Xenogears).

Overall, it is a great, entertaining and charming game that deserves your attention.
